Chapter 20

Haseena was restless after Karishma left in such an unpleasant manner. She herself wanted to drop her at the station. But that Arshad spoiled everything. She asked him to leave by making an excuse that she was not feeling well. She was shocked at his audacity to bring alcohol at her home and hug her without even caring for her consent.

Haseena was pacing in her room while talking to her ammi in a frustrated manner - "Ammi aapko pata hai, wo Arshad khud toh aaya hi, aur toh aur apne saath sharab bhi leke aaya tha hamare ghar pe. Aap jaanti hai na humein ye sab bilkul pasand nahi hai."

Ammi said in a serious tone - "kya baat kar rahi hai, humne to uski maa se saaf saaf keh diya tha ki hamari beti ko thoda waqt chahiye. Tu chinta mat kar main dekhti hun usko."

Haseena asked in a little suspicious tone - "aap sach me baat krengi usse.. Humne use bhaga diya isse koi dikkat nahi hai aapko, gussa nahi karna hai humpe..?"

Ammi said in an irked tone - "tujhe kya main pagal lagti hun jo iss baat pe tujhe daantungi..! Woh agar teri pasand na-pasand ki izzat abhi hi nahi karta toh shaadi kaise kara dungi teri usse. Maana main chahti hun ki tu nikaah kar le, par uske peeche ki wajah teri khushiyan hain, na ki koi majboori. Humein tumhare liye jeevansathi chahiye jo tera dard baante, teri sar dard ban jaye aisa koi nahi chalega humein hamari beti ke liye, samjhi..!!"

Haseena said in an emotional voice with brimmed eyes - "Ammi, humein laga ki aap nahi samjhengi."

Ammi said in a loving tone - "Tujhe nahi samjhenge toh fir kise samjhenge beta. Tu ye rona dhona band kar, pata nahi kaisi beti mili hai humein, achi baat par bhi rone lagti hai. Acha wo Karishma train pe hogi na abhi, Teri baat hui kya uske ghar se nikalne ke baad."

Haseena said in a little sad tone - "Nahi baat nahi hui hamari, uss Arshad ki wajah se unko drop karne bhi nahi ja paaye hum. Cab se gayi hain wo."

Ammi - "Tch..ye ladka na hua musibat ho gayi hai.. koi baat nahi, ab jo hua so hua. Karishma se puch lena ki thik se baith gayi hai na train me. Aur humein bhi bata dena. Ab main rakhti hun. So ja, Good night."

Haseena said in a childish tone - "Good night ammi.. love you.."

Ammi smiled and said - "Love you too mera bachha, tu ja ab shaanti se so ja."

Haseena keeps the phone aside lying down on her bed with closed eyes. She was feeling a bit relaxed after talking to her ammi. She picked up her phone and dialled Karishma's number. But it was saying not reachable. She tried again but got the same response. She kept her phone aside in irritation - "train pe hain toh network nhi hoga shayad. Par saamne se ek message to karna chahiye tha na train me baithne ke baad. Kahin naraz toh nahi hai humse. Waise hona bhi chahiye, thik se bye tak nahi bola humne."

Then suddenly she recalled whatever transpired between them this evening before Arshad's arrival. A red hue spread across her face - the closeness was undeniably intoxicating and she didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Every time Karishma looked at her with such an immense amount of love and yearning in her eyes that even without speaking a single word of appreciation, she made haseena feel good about herself. At that very moment, Karishma's dull face came in front of her eyes. When she saw Arshad hugging her, those silent eyes of her, were screaming in agony. She tried to call her once again but it didn't connect. She slept after a long struggle with her thoughts.

The next morning, haseena's phone starts ringing, waking up Haseena from her sleep. She picks it up without looking at caller ID & says hello in a sleepy tone.

Karishma smiles and greeted - "Jai Hind Madam sir..Desh ko aapki zarurat hai aur aap hai ki so rahi hain."

As soon as Haseena heard Karishma's voice, she sat up straight & quickly asked - "Karishma Singh.. zarurat..kaisi zarurat hai desh ko. Koi problem hui hai kya?"
