LXVIII. if I were you

52 12 10

If I were you
I'd engulf me in a hug
till the passing moon
and the rising sun

If I were you
I won't let me cry
and when I do
I won't ask me why

I'll kiss my eyes
and lips and cheek
I'll whisper words
the flowers speak

I'll tuck me in bed
and cover me with a blanket
and stay by my side
till the first morning light

If I were you
I would've never hurt me
I'd try to understand
the language I speak

But I'm not you
and you can't be me
and not everyone
can love for free
