HAYA

" Rohan " My voice was low. So low like a whisper. He stare at me. While I did the same. I could not move. Could not breathe. There was one thing I could do. And it was to let the tears fall from my eyes. But I was not blinking my eyes. His face looked like as if he can't breathe too. I open my mouth to say something, anything , but no I could not say anything. It was as if the breathe was stuck in my lungs. I don't know how- what to say. So I took a deep breathe. And smiled.

" Can't you see Idiot " I said but unlike the first time I didn't snapped. My voice was soft.

He paused look at me with a raised eye brow. But then something flickered in his eyes. He gulp and said.

" I can see miss , but I think you are blind " He said looking for his very important phone. I start to pick up the boxes when a laugh escaped my mouth. He look up and smiled as well.

" I'm sorry but it's so funny. " I said but when I look back at him. He was looking at me deeply. Ya Allah his eyes are still so beautiful.

" Are you okay Haya, did you get hurt anywhere, I'm sorry-- " I cut him off, this time is so different, I clearly remember the first time he showed attitude. Now look at him.

" I'm All fine, and actually the boxes were to many so I fell " I said picking up the boxes. He shook his head and took few of the boxes .

" I can do it " I said as he narrowed his eyes at me. " I can see "

Just when our eyes met, the breathe again was gone. He was looking deep in my soul. So was I.

" Haya- oh Rohan Beta " Uncle Yusaf walked out. He was wearing his comfort clothes Shalwar and Kameez. His eyes start to shine as soon as he saw Rohan.

And wait did I hear wrong or he called Rohan As Rohaan?

I stare at both of them as Uncle Yusaf pulled Rohan into a tight hug . I blink at both of them.

" Assalam O Alaikum Uncle " Rohan said with a blinding shining smile. My uncle greeted back. And now I noticed, Rohan was in a white Kurta . Even though he was same just like before.

My uncle turned to me with a smile.

" Haya my sweet daughter. You look beautiful as always. " I smiled. " Thank you uncle "

" And Haya Meet, Rohan, Muhammed Rohan"

My smile fell and for a moment I could not believe my ears. There must be something very wrong. I turn completely towards him.

My lips parted.

He smiled. But I could not smile. Smile can't explain my emotions. My tears could. One by one each tear fell from my eyes. His smile faded replaced with a tensed expressions.

" What happened Haya? " He asked taking a step towards me. I shook my head. Wiping my tears. " Thank... Thank you " I said and I don't even know to whom I was saying this. Maybe to Allah.

I pulled my smile. " I'm so sorry... Assalam O Alaikum Rohan. " He pressed his lips together and put a hand on his chest. " Wa ʿalaykumu s-salam Pya-- Haya "

My heart ached hearing the name " Pyara " Even though he cut himself midway. I could not be more happier.

My heart hammered a frantic rhythm against my ribs as I stole another glance at Rohan across the dining table. Three years. Three whole years I had waited, patiently clinging to the sliver of hope that bloomed Rohan Oberoi, the charming man I knew was now Muhammed Rohan, a Hafiz-e-Quran .
