Heat

Heat, unbelievable heat welling up from the pavement

Stifling heat, burning the souls of our feet

Stripping leather from shoes.

Never-ending heat

Broken only by small splatters of rain

Instantly vaporised as each drop reaches the dust

Thunderclouds bloom overheat

Threatening consequences never realised

Storms brewing,

Building up until mere breath becomes a labour in the heat

Never-ending oppressive heat pours down from the heavens

Surely it will break soon?

Surely soon abundant rain will fall

Drenching all in its luke warm relief
