(Chapter 15)
"Love Runs Out"

1 month later...

Thursday, February 14th
7:00am

"Jill? Baby?"

"Hmm," Jillian barely opened her eyes.

"Jillian!"

"Ugh, you are the worst alarm clock ever."

Darren kissed her cheek.
"Come on, we have class."

"Ughhh," Jillian groaned and sat up.

"I made you breakfast."

"Really?"

"Mhmm. Your favourite."

"Waffles?"

"Yes, of course."

Darren brought her over a tray of heart-shaped food.

"Aw, this is adorable," she smiled.

"I'm glad you like it."

"How early did you get up for this?"

"Uh, about an hour and a half ago."

"Why?"

Darren sat on the bed next to her.
"Jill, don't you know what today is?"

"Uh... it's Thursday, right?"

"Sirius, it's Valentine's Day."

Jillian's eyes widened.
"Oh."

Darren took her hand.
"I... I know it must still be... kind of a sensitive area for you. But, it's still our first Valentine's Day as an official couple and I at least wanted to do one special thing for you today. Plus, it's also the anniversary of our first date. Remember, by the lake?"

Jillian smiled.
"I do."

"So... how do you feel? Can we celebrate a bit today? Or do you want to just forget about it?"

Jillian paused for a second.

It's so sweet this day means so much to him.

"Of course we can."

Darren smiled and kissed her.
"Thank you. You know, our anniversary is in a couple weeks, too."

"I know."

Darren kissed her forehead.
"I love you."

"I love you, too."

"Eat quick, we have to go."

Later...

4:00pm

"I can't believe you brought me back here again," Jillian beamed at the familiar scene of the lake.

"This place is special to us."

"I know it is."

"When when we were here on our first date, it felt unreal. I've liked you for so long, but... it seemed you were always out of my reach."

"I liked you for a long time, too."

"And when we came here again, it was because I was trying to show you how much I cared."

"Oh, come on, you were jealous."

"Yeah, well I didn't want to share."

Darren took her hand and they both sat on the blanket together.

"I can't believe it's already been a year," Jillian sighed.

"It feels like it's been an eternity."

"I know... we haven't talked a lot about what happened. But... considering how happy we are now, I'm starting to make peace with the past. All I really care about now is our future together."

Darren kissed her left hand.
"Ditto."

Wednesday, February 27th
6:00pm

"You look... so beautiful," Darren admired Jillian in her short red dress under the dim lights of the restaurant.

"Thank you," she blushed.

Darren took her left hand and brushed his thumb across her knuckles.

"So, I was thinking... since it's our anniversary... maybe we could talk about wedding plans."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Because, I was thinking, maybe we could get married this summer, after graduation."

"I... I'd love that."

"Really?"

"Yes!"

"What about June 1st? It's on a Saturday and it still gives us a few weeks after graduation to completely plan it."

"That sounds great," Jillian agreed. "So... what about after the wedding?"

"What do you mean?"

"Doesn't something usually come after a wedding?"

"You mean a honeymoon?"

"Of course that's what I mean."

Darren kissed her forehead and looked into her eyes.
"I will take you anywhere you want."

"So... we did it. We set a date."

"We set a date."

"We set a date!! WOO!!" Jillian cheered.

Darren laughed.
He kissed her but Jillian could hardly restrain a smile.

"I love you so much," she told him.

"I love you, too. Forever."
