"hello, jungwon?!"
I sniffled.
"eunbi why are you awake- ARE YOU CRYING?!"
he freaked out and I chuckled.
"no, not now. I think I have a cold"
I said and he sighed out of relief.
"oh thank god- WAIT NOT NOW?!"
"won, just calm down. can we meet?! I have some things I wanna get off my chest"
I said, fiddling with my fingers.
"yeah sure!"
he said and I smiled.
"thanks won, I'll meet you at the park in 10"
I said and he giggled.
"bye bibi"
he hung up.
I washed my face and wore some warm clothes since it was cold outside.
"where are you going?!"
my brother asked me and I jumped.
"gosh, you scared me! I'm gonna meet-"
"jungwon"
he completed my sentence and my eyes widened.
"how-"
"I heard your conversation"
he cut me off and I rolled my eyes.
"well since you know where I'm going now, imma leave. bye!"
he waved at me and I left the house, heading to the park.
I saw jungwon sitting on a swing while playing with a plastic bag and I chuckled at the sight. I sat next to him
"hey!"
I waved at him and he smiled.
"hi bibi! what's wrong?!"
he asked me and I sighed.
"remember when you asked me why I flinched so much?!"
he nodded.
"well, i think I'm ready to tell you why"
I said and his eyes widened.
"you don't have to-"
"I want to"
I cut him off and he nodded.
"fine, but eat this chocolate first, I bought it on my way here"
he gave it to me shyly and I giggled.
"thank you won, this is my favorite brand!"
I said and he let out a small laugh.
"I figured, you always ate these in class"
he said, smiling proudly.
I unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite.
"is it nice?!"
he asked me and I nodded vigorously,
"it's even better now that you're here"
I noticed his pink cheeks and laughed.
"well I guess I'll tell you about my dark-ish past, I guess"
I said and he nodded.
"well uhh, one day, me and my beautiful family were going to busan! my mom and my brother went in one car and me and my dad in another. it was a race!"
I continued,
"my dad sped up a little bit and we kinda got into a huge accident. we went to the hospital where my dad donated blood to save me. he died"
I said and he held my hand, slowly caressing it.
"my mom didn't like me much because I was... a mistake. my dad asked her to keep it and because she loved him a lot, she did. but now that he was dead because of me, she grew a strong hatred"
"she punched me and hit me on a daily basis and I never felt that I was good enough. my brother always told her to stop, but no matter how much she loved him, she didn't stop"
I felt tears welling up in my eyes,
"she grew to become an alcoholic and got a boyfriend who tried to stop her, but couldn't. she slept in his house for the past few months and then, she came back home today. it would've gone far but my brother stopped it, and kicked her out of the house. now, my family is only my brother, I guess"
I said, sniffling and he pulled me into a hug.
"you should've told me this before!"
he said, and I rested my head on the crook of his neck,
"well, I told you now. please don't treat me any different than you do now won"
I said and he chuckled,
"I won't. it's okay"
he said and I smiled.
"we should go home, it's getting late. I'll see you tomorrow?!"
"I'll drop you home"
he said and I nodded.
"cool"
he intertwined our fingers and I felt my cheeks get pink. we reached my house.
"thanks for dropping me"
I said and he smiled, his dimples popping.
"it's cool"
"wait! before you leave"
I pecked him on the cheek
"that's for being such a good listener"
his eyes were wide because of the sudden peck and I giggled, walking back into my house, and falling into deep slumber later.
