Evangeline

"Out like children" Tristan mumbled softly as we watched my brother and friends snoring obnoxiously loud tonight, the four of them sprawled across my living room.

"Isn't it such a lovely sight?" I joked, his head tilting down to look at me with that amused gleam in his eye.

I walked around into the kitchen to grab the aspirin from the cupboard and four bottled waters lining them up on the counter for when the group wakes up in the morning.

I could feel Tristans eyes on me, tracking every move and I wouldn't dare meet his gaze knowing the red glow that most likely painted my cheeks.

Just as I started to grab the things to make Jeremy's lunch out of pure habit, my breath hitched when Tristans hand caught mine from behind, stopping me from opening the refrigerator. There was no other contact other than that, but I could feel the heat of his body only centimeters away from mine.

I swallowed hard and his lips were suddenly near my ear, his warm breath sending a shiver down my spine and heat to my stomach.

"Take a break Evangeline" he murmured softly and I chewed my bottom lip, trying to brush every feeling that took over, away, as if it were such a simple task.

Slowly, very slowly, I turned around to face him while he didn't move a muscle. He remained only inches from me and his head still ducked down just to be eye level with me.

His eyes...

Those baby blues that are often so bright were now the darkest I've probably ever seen them, holding a hunger I've never seen before.

"Spend Wednesday with me..." he mumbled, almost a whisper as if he were trying to hold himself back.

"What?" I asked, my voice practically a whisper and my head tilting just the slightest bit, afraid that any sudden movements would shatter the moment.

"The only day that you aren't bound to a job of any kind, I want it, I want your whole day" he said, his tone lower and his words smoother than butter.

Tristan made it sound like he needed that day for himself, my day, he says.

The words bounced around in my mind, those deep blue eyes piercing into my soul and flickering to my lips for just the briefest moment. His jaw clenched with anticipation and before I knew it, my mouth moved before I could stop myself.

"Okay..."

The smile on his lips wouldn't allow me to regret agreeing to give him a whole day.

"I'll be here Wednesday morning at 10" he informs me, his hands caressing my elbows before sliding down my forearms, another shiver washing over me as he did so causing me to bite the inside of my cheek to resist showing him what only his touch did to me.

"I'll come with your horrible caffeine addiction in hand" he promised making me grin like an idiot.

"You should've just led with that" I playfully shrugged, the tips of his fingers grazing my arms while he smirked at me.

"You aren't...leaving...are you? Driving, I mean" I couldn't help but ask.

I never wanted someone's company more than right now and I almost felt embarrassed as soon as the words fell out of me. I tried using the excuse that he'd been drinking but I could tell he was nearly as sober as I was after the two extra hours it took to settle down the four bodies passed out only a few feet away from us.

Sound a bit more desperate why don't you?

"I have a ride, I'll come back to grab my car tomorrow" he explained and I nodded, shoving the voice that only seems to make an appearance at the worst of times.

"Do you want me to walk you out?" I offered earning a light chuckle and a light squeeze on my forearms.

"Jeez, would you just go lay down and sleep Evangeline?" he begged making me let out a breathy laugh of my own.

"Wednesday at 10, please get more than 2 hours of sleep" he rolled his eyes.

"I could use an extra 30 minutes" I nodded with a playful smirk. Tristan lightly pinched my side making me gasp and bring a hand to cover my mouth, stopping the yelp that might have come out.

Trying to stifle his laughter, Tristan tried narrowing his eyes at me "you are insufferable, you know that?" He shook his head.

"It gives me character" I shrugged and he'd finally took a step or two back, giving me a quick look up and down making my cheeks burn for the billionth time tonight.

"You look good by the way" he said, biting his bottom lip when the words left his mouth and I couldn't help but wrap my arms around myself.

My face was on fire at this point while his eyes tracked up and down once more. His gaze lingering longer then he probably intended making me feel like melting right there at his feet.

"10, Wednesday...I will...um, see you then" I cleared my throat, guiding him to the front door and watching the smirk on his lips grow like the cheeky bastard he is.

"Goodnight Evangeline" he cooed teasingly as he stood outside of my apartment now, his hands shoved into his coat pockets.

Looking up at him, that one dimple poking his cheek as his smirk grew cheekier, I couldn't help but grin, accepting that even when he's being the absolute cocky man that he is right now, he's still just him.

Smart ass and all.

"Goodnight Tristan" I said with a tilt of my head as I leaned against the apartment door.

I watched him swallow, that jaw of his clenching again before he turned around and stalked off. I shut the door, leaning my forehead against it hoping it'd help cool me down and I shut my eyes.

I let out a breath and decided to listen to Tristan, trudging to my bedroom extremely exhausted and fell into one of the longest sleeps I've had in such a long time.
