real life !

it was lunchtime and ameira sat with her new group of 'friends'. allen and august were having a competition to see who can catch the most grapes on their mouth. ameira was watching in amusement as kelly and morgan were
talking about timothee chalamet.

"how many did i get?" august asks the curly haired girl.

"thirteen. and allen got five." she tells them, allen frowning and august punching the air in victory.

ameira always thought back to the note that warned her about her new group of people from last week. even though she was confused and thought the person who she sent notes to didn't know what the hell they were talking about, she still made the effort to listen a little and tread lightly.

she didn't fully trust the group yet, but so far there was no suspicion from what she's seeing. "hey ameira." morgan calls. "wanna come over for a sleepover? we're gonna order pizza, watch movies and do face masks. sound fun?"

"yeah sure." ameira agrees, blinking. "but don't we have school tomorrow?"

"yeah just bring a change of clothes and my mom will drop us all off at school in the morning." ameria nods, sighing when she realizes that she's gonna have to ask her parents.

they'll obviously let her go but not without them laughing in her face at the thought of their only child having friends. the child thru looked down upon. she could go without their permission, but then that would mean more shit in her case from them too.

"fuck it." she utters to herself, sucking it up.

she gets home from school and sees her dad lounging on the couch and her mom in the kitchen cooking dinner. neither of them noticed her coming inside so she decided to jangle her keys loudly, grabbing their attention.

"oh you're home." her mom says in a monotone voice, chopping up the green peppers. "why're you just standing at the door still? you live here." she sees how ameira stands still at the door, her eyes on the floor.

it's been a long time ameira has asked her parents for something and the last time she asked them for something, it was the worst night of her life.

"uh, ma, dad." she speaks up, placing her hands onto the pocket of her hoodie to fiddle with her fingers. "can i ask you guys something?"

her dad groans, rolling his eyes as he leans up to pause his netflix series he was watching. "it better be good or else i just turned off black lightning for no reason."

ameira takes a deep breath, blowing the loose strand of her hair out of her face and sticking it into the bun on top of her head. "m-my friend morgan is having a sleepover at her house .... and i just wanted to ask if i could go?"

they laugh, just as she expected. ameira rolls her eyes as she picks up her bag and walks past them. "that's a good one, woo!" her mom wipes the tear off her cheek.

ameira keeps walking, all the way up the steps and into her room. closing the door, she instantly went to her closet, looking for an outfit tomorrow. ameira had nice ass clothes in her closets, her outfits could make her end up on pinterest. but she never wore them out in public, because of her own insecurities that were made from her parents.

"oh so you were serious?" ameira turns back to see her dad with a mug on his face and his hand
on the doorknob.

"yes. yes i was." she replies lowly, throwing and stuffing the clothes in her bag, along with her hygiene products. "excuse me." she passes him to walk to the bathroom for her toothbrush, a rag and towel.

her dad follows her throughout the house. "you sure you have friends? and not just some imaginary bullshit people?"

"believe me if you want to." she shrugs, sighing as she zips up the bag, placing it around her shoulder to hold as she walks downstairs. "i'll be back tomorrow afternoon after school."

and with that she left, not wanting to stay in there any longer. she took a uber, knowing that she didn't have a car and her parents drove her sometimes.

"so ameira, any boys caught your eye?" morgan drops the pizza crust on the paper plate. they were an hour into their sleepover and ameira
was enjoying herself.

"nope." she pops her lips, taking a sip off the grape soda. "all the boys at this school are disgusting."

"what about matt?" kelly shrugs. "or allen."

"hell no, absolutely not." ameira cringes. allen was a cool person don't get her wrong, but he just wasn't it. "but who's matt?"

"you sit next to him in english." morgan reminds her, making ameira remember as she nods her head.

"oh yeah him. i don't know, not really looking right now you know?" the two girls nodded as they started to do whatever else.

tiktoks, make videos, and eat cookies. after that they wind down and they were now laying on morgan's bed on face masks. "we're glad you're our friend meira." kelly smiles and ameira hums.

it sounded so genuine. "glad to be your friends guys."

"i think i ate to many cookies." morgan rubs her stomach. kelly and ameira shake their heads. this was the first time in forever where ameira was feeling happy right now, she was living life right now, and she didn't want that to be stripped away from her.
