Masterpiece: An Ekphrasis

Amidst the art on the gallery's wall,

A graceful masterpiece stands tall.

Reflection of a cultured imagination,

And the epitome of sophistication.

With each stroke fluid, every color divine,

Pure work of art, so intricate and fine.

Painted in hues of ivory and gold,

The touch of crimson speaks of the secrets untold.

Wisdom of a bygone time, captured in its design,

A tale of love and hatred in every line.

Hello Aesthetes!

Here we have with us one of our day winners storieswithsoul of the following 'Day sophisticated' of versification 2023.

🎈1. What was your favourite prompt in Versification?

Not easy to picky, but I really loved working with Day 4 prompt 'kaput.'

🎈2. Share with us your favourite poem/entry you wrote for versification.

My favorite is the one I wrote for Day 17 prompt 'coffee.' It's titled Sip of Death and is inspired by Agatha Christie's mysteries.
"The dark and rich liquid,
bitter on the tongue,
masking that almond taste,
and a warm aroma in the air,
making you wonder,
if one must die,
holding a coffee cup ...
... an acceptable way to go."

🎈3. What are three words that you'd describe your writing?

Versatile, thought-provoking, and unpredictable.

🎈4. What is the inspiration behind your poetry/writing?

A number of thing; books & authors I read, people around me, things I value, and life itself inspires me, too.

🎈5. Do you have a favourite Poet or Poetress?

I don't read poetry in English, but my favorite Urdu poets is Jaun Elia. And my favorite Punjabi poet is Bulleh Shah.

🎈6. What was your favourite part of Versification?

I love the prompts and writing poetry, of course. But without a doubt, my favorite part was connecting with the Wattpad poet's community. Reading and engaging with fellow poets made the month go by in a blink.

🎈7. If you could meet one poet, dead or alive, who would it be?

That's easy, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. I have a bone to pick with him. lol

🎈8. What style of poetry/writing do you write normally?

Free verse and free-form rhyming poems.

🎈9. What is your favourite poem you've ever written and what inspired it or is the story behind it?

It's a micro poem I wrote recently. I just love the msg in it, which is direct and to the point;
Shine bright like a star,
Light up the world,
By being who you are!

🎈10. Anything you'd like to add or say?

I'd like to thank WattpadPoetry for hosting the Versification contest and I'd like to thank everyone, poets, judges, and the community, for making it such a memorable event.
