Infect

Wounds were the red poppies, laying on my funeral

Bruises were the battered blue feelings on my cremated easel

Scar was the dark scratch of his name engraved in my tombstone

Infection was the graveyard of my heart, where he haunted the burial

All my crevices and cracks, replaced by fragments of yours

Kissing my scars close, like bandaids over missing holes

Turning the cracks into pretty tattoos between the montage of emotions

Your brokenness and mine, completing each other whole.

Hello Aesthetes!

Here we have with us TessaYoung5 one of our day winners of the following day:
🔺 Day 8: Legendary
🔺 Day 24: Infect
of versification 2023.

🎈1. What was your favourite prompt in Versification?

My favourite prompts were actually two of them, tranquil and overwhelmed. Mostly because they had quite a vast realm of creativity. I had too many ideas for these but it was hard to stick with one of them.

🎈2. Share with us your favourite poem/entry you wrote for versification.

My favourite prompts were actually two of them, tranquil and overwhelmed. Mostly because they had quite a vast realm of creativity. I had too many ideas for these but it was hard to stick with one of them.

🎈3. What are three words that you'd describe your writing?

Very metaphorical, exemplary, and abstract.

🎈4. What is the inspiration behind your poetry/writing?

I think it's mainly my feelings and thoughts at the time for which I used poetry writing as a coping mechanism to process them. That's where I think some of my best and favourite poetries emerge. Other inspirations that I've had, have been some of my very close friends, my boyfriend, some people who've come and gone from my life. I can get inspiration from the smallest of things that I encounter. It doesn't always have to be something very impactful, but I like to extract that impactfulness, taking anything as my muse.

🎈5. Do you have a favourite Poet or Poetress?

I think I've found a new favourite poetess, and she's from Wattpad, and she goes by the username @kindawhoresomexo. She's an incredible writer and her poetries never cease to amaze me.

🎈6. What was your favourite part of Versification?

I think the fact that I got to meet so many wonderful poets was so amazing because I sparingly find any poets across Wattpad since they're not given enough recognition. I also loved discovering new poetry writing styles when having to write prompted poetries everyday, and getting to explore my creative bounds.

🎈7. If you could meet one poet, dead or alive, who would it be?

Right off the bat, Taylor Swift. Her lyricism and poetry writing style is absolutely beautiful. I can not stress that enough on how much her albums evermore and folklore are lyrical masterpieces. They actually inspired and kick-started my poetry writing journey.

🎈8. What style of poetry/writing do you write normally?

I don't think I follow a one strict particular style. I just write whatever comes in my mind and whatever suits the theme, and try to incorporate rhyme schemes along.

🎈9. What is your favourite poem you've ever written and what inspired it or is the story behind it?

I think one of my favourite poems I've ever written is Mosaicked Feelings from my poetry collection, Mismatch Flame. The muse for that poetry was my feelings of love since I was in a new blossoming relationship with my boyfriend. I think it took me the longest to write. I poured my heart and soul into it, and it's the poem that I'll always cherish.

🎈10. Anything you'd like to add or say?

I'd like to extend my thankfulness towards WattpadPoetry for giving poets acknowledgement since it is such an unacknowledged genre on Wattpad. I hope I get to participate in more contests like Versification. It was a wonderful contest.

Thank you TessaYoung5! Do check out their winning entry in 'Scarred pages' and shower them with lots of love.
