THEY ALL STAND IN in the now OR, and Burke turns to Dylan.
"We're ready when you are." Burke tells him.
"We're good." Dylan replies, looking at Maddison, who nods. He turns to Meredith. "Meredith?"
"Yeah." Meredith replies, a little scared.
"Mer, you can do this." Maddison tries to reassure her.
"How are you so calm about this?" Meredith turns to her.
"Oh, easy." Maddison replies. "I'm no the one who has to pull out the bomb that can kill us all."
"Not helping, Maddy!" Meredith tells her.
"I am. Scared." Maddison looks at her. "Really really scared." Meredith's face softens. "This is a scary- terrifying situation, Mer. But right now, you're more scared, okay? So, I can not be scared."
Meredith gives her a little nod, and Burke speaks up.
"I'm going to extend the wound." He informs. "When I cut the bleeding is going to intensify. If we're going to save Mr. Carlson you have to pull the ammo out immediately."
"But remember remove it while keeping it level as possible." Dylan adds, and Meredith nods. "Nice and easy. No quick movements. Level."
"Right level." Meredith shakes.
"You ready?" Burke asks the girl.
"I uh-" Meredith says, teary-eyed. "Do I have a choice?"
"You have to be ready." Burke tells her.
"Yeah I guess..." Meredith says.
"You holding out there okay, Sloan?" Burke turns to the other intern.
"Yes, sir." Maddison replies, looking down, so he doesn't see how scared she actually was.
"Scalpel." Burke says, and starts extending the wound.
"I guess I'm ready." Meredith finishes her earlier thought.
"I'M GOOD. She can go." Burke tells them, taking a small step back.
