As Sung Hoon couldn't bear the thought of spending another day without Lucy, he summoned the courage to dial her number, his heart pounding with anticipation. On the other end, Lucy, buried in her textbooks, glanced at her buzzing phone, surprised to see Sung Hoon's name flashing on the screen. She quickly pick up.

"Hey, what are you up to?" Sung Hoon asked, his voice filled with anticipation.

Lucy responded, "I'm studying for my midterm next week."

Sung Hoon chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "How's the preparation going? You're not falling asleep while studying, are you?"

Lucy laughed at his familiar joke, saying, "You know my habits too well."

As their conversation flowed, a weighty silence hung in the air, both of them acutely aware of the unspoken tension between them. Then, in a moment of vulnerability, Sung Hoon broke the silence.

"I miss you," he confessed, his words hanging in the air like a delicate thread.

Lucy's breath caught in her throat, her heart lurching at his unexpected admission. "I miss you too," she murmured softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Encouraged by her response, Sung Hoon seized the opportunity. "Can we meet up after your midterm?" he asked, his voice laced with hope.

For a fleeting moment, Lucy hesitated, her mind racing with conflicting emotions. But deep down, she knew it was time to face the inevitable. She knows it's time. "Yes," she finally replied, her voice trembling with indecision. "Let's meet after my exams."

"So," Sung Hoon continued with joy, "any plans after your exams? Anything special you want to do or somewhere you want to go?"

The conversation flowed smoothly. In that fleeting moment, Sung Hoon couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. He felt a sense of relief wash over him as he spoke to Lucy. The pain in his chest seemed to vanish, and he couldn't help but feel that asking her out was the right decision, believing it would bring them closer together. Little did he know, it would only serve to widen the rift between them. Before agreeing to go on a date, Lucy knew it was time.
