Yan Tuo began his story from the moment he received Nie Jiuluo's self-destructing message.

Nie Jiuluo was alright. She wasn't the type to ask questions at the drop of a hat, but when it came to matters concerning herself, she couldn't help but want to know more.

Her first question was, "You put me in a box? The same one you used for Chen Fu?"

After getting confirmation from Yan Tuo, she couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed: to think she had used the same box as Chen Fu. Hah!

But she couldn't say anything about it. She couldn't exactly ask Yan Tuo to use a different box for each guest, could she?

As she continued to listen, upon hearing that Lu Xian had treated her, her second question came up, "How old is this Lu Xian?"

Yan Tuo answered, "Around 27 or 28."

"Just 27 or 28, and he's already a doctor?"

Yan Tuo retorted, "You're not even 27 or 28 yet, and you're already an artist, aren't you?"

Nie Jiuluo replied, "That's different."

A doctor's qualifications and experience were very important, belonging to the type that gets better with age and experience. You often hear about genius painters, genius sculptors, but have you ever heard of a genius doctor?

Yan Tuo said, "Someone like Lu Xian, if he were working in a proper hospital, at his age, he wouldn't even be qualified to be a senior resident. But since it's all unauthorized operations, he's been doing all sorts of surgeries for years. Besides, he did manage to save you in the end."

Nie Jiuluo lightly bit her lip. "Didn't you assign him... a female nurse or something?"

She wasn't stupid. When she woke up, she was lying on Liu Changxi's bed, wearing new pajamas. In short, everything from before, including her intimate items, was gone.

Yan Tuo coughed lightly a couple of times, his palms slightly warm. He withdrew his hand, shifted his body, and said, "I did."

After saying that, he took a sip of water to indicate that he was too busy drinking to answer at the moment.

Nie Jiuluo didn't ask further and crumpled the plastic film in her palm with a crisp sound. Finally, she said, "Please continue."

Thankfully, he had almost finished his glass of water.

Yan Tuo put down the cup and continued with the later events.

He originally intended to skip the part about Lin Ling and not mention it. But then he thought, one person's mind may not cover everything, and Nie Jiuluo was an outsider. From an observer's perspective, she might provide some new insights, so he decided to tell her the key points.

As expected, Nie Jiuluo was very interested and asked him, "Do you have paper and pen? I want to take notes."

Since she had bought many books, the bookstore had included a notebook, and pens were readily available. Yan Tuo handed them to her, and Nie Jiuluo picked a thick sculpture book as a pad, opened the notebook, lowered her head, and wrote down the words Lin Ling.

Yan Tuo watched her a little absentmindedly. For him, this was a novel experience. It was the first time he felt like he was consulting with someone on matters—although he had done so with Lin Ling before, but Lin Ling's personality was too reliant on others. Most of the time, the conversation ended up being led by him alone.

Nie Jiuluo's hair was quite long, softly cascading over the bedding as she wrote, very soft and smooth.

After some thought, she asked, "Was Lin Ling adopted by Lin Xirou? Where was she adopted from?"
