Jack

It was about half way through lunch when Mark stood and walked out of the lunch room.
"Where is Mark going?" I asked.
"Mr. Grassi lets Mark use the choir room before lunch so he can practice on his own." Felix said.
I sat there and debated for a minute.
"Do you think he would mind if I listened him...?" I said, not really thinking.
"I could take you to the choir room and then just say I was showing you early so I could go talk to a teacher." He said.
"Alright." I said.
I know this sounds rude to just barge in and listen to him but I am very curious to see if he is as good as Felix is saying.
I opened the door to the room and spotted Mark seated at the piano, his voice projecting around the room.
Well Felix wasn't lying. Damn that boy could sing.

"Hello, it's me
I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet
To go over everything
They say that time's supposed to heal ya, but I ain't done much healing
Hello, can you hear me?
I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet
There's such a difference between us
And a million miles
Hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I've tried
To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart, Anymore

He finished and looked at me and Felix.
He started blushing.
I stuttered over my words.
"Sorry, Felix has to talk to a teacher and he said you wouldn't mind if I stayed with you..."
He looked at Felix with a weary look but nodded at me. I said goodbye to Felix and he hugged Mark before leaving.
"Do you know how to play..?" He asked me.
I shook my head no and he smiled.
"I could show you... It's pretty easy..."
I smiled and went to sit next to him on the bench.
He looked at my hands and at me with a questioning look. I smiled and nodded and he gently guided my hands to the keys, showing me where to place them.
For the next half hour we sat side by side, him showing he how to play and is laughing at my mistakes. When the bell rang he gave me a hug and I felt my heart beat faster.
