Steve Rogers- Milkshake

It's almost midnight and you're tired from being up so early, sore from having worked all day, and honestly, if anyone walks through the doors five minuets before closing time, you're going to murder them.

And then, the door chimes as it swings open and your victim walks in. You don't bother looking over your shoulder as you silently fume at the cash register.

"Excuse me, but I-"

"We're closed," You slam the register shut and begin wiping down the bar. "The cooks have all gone home and the only thing I know how to make is coffee and a milkshake."

"A milkshake sounds perfect,"

You tighten your grip on the rag and turn, ready to bite the mans head off but your jaw snaps shut. Of all the diners in New York City, Captain America just had to choose this one.

He smiles, but you don't return it as you get to work on his order.

"Chocolate okay?"

"Yeah. Rough night?" You hear him sit on a chair at the bar behind you.

"Rough week," Is your reply, setting down the cold glass in front of him and hand him a straw. "You won't take any money from the cash register if I turn my back, right?"

He nods. "Wouldn't want you to get fired,"

"Right," You sigh, running a hand down your apron and set to work on straightening the chairs, refilling the sugar glasses, all the while talking with Captain America, please, call me Steve, like you guys are old friends.

Maybe it's because you're way past exhausted at this point to actually think about the way Steve so casually stands and helps you, lifting the tables so you could sweep under them and picking you up so you could reach the stray balloon against the ceiling.

"Thanks again," You say, locking up the diner and pocketing the keys. "I really appreciated it,"

He grins, and this time you do, too. "It was no problem, m'am. I'll come back tomorrow, earlier next time."

You nod. "See you,"

He waves goodbye as you go separate ways. The long day was worth it in the end, but not because you met Captain America, for meeting Steve Rogers.
