He couldn't believe it

He couldn't believe it. Draco Malfoy had walked into the Gryffindor Common Room, which in itself wasn't terribly awkward, but he had been pushed out by that terrible bushy haired girl. Even worse, he had asked to be let back in and refused!

That's it. When Granger comes back out he will drag her the McGonagall and demand a different partner. She was unbearably demanding and acted as if she was the only intelligent being in the whole school.
She will be so shocked when McGonagall kicks her out, the filthy little Mudb- He stopped his thought at the word. He told himself that he will never utter that word again, that he will never say a single thing about Muggle Borns. Ever since the war, rumors went flying that Draco was still a Death Eater, how he shouldn't be allowed back into the school, how he was a danger to everyone. He, of course, had changed his beliefs; now fully understanding the severity of Voldemort's rules. He was shocked when McGonagall asked for him to be Head Boy. The students didn't agree (though that was to be expected), but even worse than that, his father did. Draco had always resented his father and how he pushed his thoughts onto his son.

He would never admit it, but Lucius was terrifying, perhaps a bigger threat in Draco's eyes than the Dark Lord himself. He subdued to his side out of pure fear of what his father would do to him. The fact that he was happy about Draco being in such a position made his blood boil and made him want to hate the job, but he couldn't help but be prideful of himself.

No one said anything to him him when he swore that he was good and that he never chose to be with Voldemort, but he could hear the whispers, the eyes on him when he walked the halls. Maybe that was why he needed to be the best. He had to prove himself to everyone by being the best Head Boy, and show them that he was a new person.

Draco sighed and slumped against the wall, waiting for Granger to finish with the Gryffindors. I should apologize to her. But I didn't do anything wrong. But I should apologize. But she was the one who yelled at you. But you can show that you're the better person by apologizing. He had always admired how she thought ahead of her actions and could most likely beat Voldemort in a duel, though she was perhaps the biggest know-it-all in all of Europe.

A group of sixth year girls walked by, giggling among themselves. In unison they all chanted, "Hey, Draco." in bubbly, flirty voices. They were taken aback when Hermione walked out the room and Draco immediately grabbed her and ran away as fast as possible from the clique of girls.

"What are you doing?! Let go! Stop it right now before I hex you!" Hermione yelled, tugging from his grip. "What was that all about?"

He looked over his shoulder, making sure the girls weren't following him.

"Hell, nothing scares me more than a large gathering of women. You never know what they want!"

"Excuse me?" Hermione was cackling at him. "Is that what you were running from?"

"Shut up."

She gave a last chuckle and wiped her eyes. He couldn't help but feel pleased that he had made her laugh. No, you can't think like that! She's Hermione Granger! He shook his head to clear his thoughts.

"Well, are you coming or not? We need to call curfew!" He had barely noticed her walk ahead of him towards the Great Hall.

"What? Oh, right; coming!"
