Mackenzie's POV//
"He has two broken ribs, and a bruised appendix but he's going to be ok" The doctor announces.
I feel a wave of relief wash over me. I wipe the tears from under my eyes and stand up.
"Can i go see him" I ask, holding my hands behind my back.
"Of course" The doctor smiles, "He's in room 2D"
The doctor walks off before i hear a familiar voice shouting from the entrance of the hospital.
"Marcus Waters! I'm looking for a Marcus Waters!" My ex-best friend Makayla shouts.
I turn to see her, eyes puffy. Tears streaming down her face.
"Please! I need a report on Marcus Waters!" She shouts again, the tears coming down harder.
"Kayla?" I ask waving my hand in the air.
"Oh my god! Kenzie!" Makayla runs over to me and pulls me into a hug, "Is he okay?"
"Yeah he's fine" I sigh pulling from the hug, "I'm actually about to go see him"
"Can i come with?" He begs
"Of course" I smile.

I wrap my hands around the doorknob and push the door open. Right as the door swings open Makayla rushes to Marcus's side.
"Baby!" She sighs. Marcus grabs her hand in his and looks up at her.
"I'm ok" He groans.
Makayla rubs through Marcus's hair with her free hand before placing a kiss on his lips and resting her head on his forehead.
"You scared the shit out of me" Makayla says, beginning to tear up.
"Don't cry baby" Marcus soothes reaching up and wiping tears from Makayla's cheeks.
"When did you two get together?" I break the silence shutting the door and walking to Marcus's side.
"Maybe about 6 months ago?" Marcus guesses looking up at Makayla.
"Yeah, around that" Makayla reassures sitting down in the seat behind her, still holding Marcus's hand
"So this is the girl you've been talking about" I smile looking at Marcus
"Yeah" He smiles back
" He's crazy about you, he talks about you all the time" I announce, smiling at her feeling a sudden cloud of awkwardness wash over the room.
"I'm gonna leave you two alone" Makayla sighs, "I gotta head home anyway"
"I love you" Marcus smiles letting go of Makayla's hand
"Love you more" Makayla smiles before kissing him and walking out the door.
"why didn't you tell me you were dating Makayla!" I smile lightly hitting his shoulder
"I wasn't sure how you'd react " Marcus sighs, fiddling with the bed sheets
"I'm happy for you" I smile holding his hand in mine.
Suddenly out of no where Marcus's machines start beeping rapidly. Marcus begins to shake.
He's having a seizure.
"Help! Help please! My brother's flatlining!" I shout jumping from my chair and swinging open the door.
Nurses rush in and begin connecting countless cords to Marcus. They push my from the room.
I'm trapped outside, not able to do anything
While my older brother is dying...
