Magnus laughed and slammed me against the wall a second time. "Be careful, snake," he spat. "I don't think so! You're selfish and only care about yourself," I argued.

With that, Magnus dropped me and walked away with tears in his eyes.

Flashback

"I see them too. Am I going insane?" Clary asked, looking at the snarkels. "I don't think so," Alec laughed.
"So, when are you going to confess to Magnus?"
"What?"
"You know, you're secretly in love with him"
"Ha. I don't know what you're talking about, Clary"
"You'll know"
"Is she going insane?" Simon and Jace laughed. "Probably," Clary teased. "Is that such a bad thing though?" Simon asked. "Yes!" Jace argued. "I think it's called having an imagination, Jonathon," Magnus spoke.
"A terrible imagination"
"Nonsense! Clarissa is an artist or have you forgotten?"
"It's not a power"
Clary laughed. "I could draw something and make it come true. All you need is a little magic," Clary explained. "Oh, really? Can you draw me a mansion then?" Jace teased.
"Now now, let's not be greedy"
"I want a girlfriend," Simon demanded. "Simon, I'm not going to draw you a girlfriend!" Clary yelled.
"Hmph"
"What would you want me to draw for you, Alec?"
"Well, magic doesn't exist. But if it did, I would ask for happiness. True happiness," Alec replied. "Magic does exist. You just have to believe," Clary replied. "You could finally be with your secret lover! Everyone has one," Jace smirked. "I don't even have a secret lover," Alec argued.
"Yes, you do. I'm sure she's great, Alec"

Alec's POV
"Earth to Alec?!" Jace yelped. "What?" I asked.
"You're literally coughing up blood. Are you okay?"
"I'm used to it, Jace. So yes, I'm fine"
"Magnus better forgive you soon! I'm tired of you two being rivals!"
"Magnus made it simply clear a long time ago. There's nothing I can do to make it up to him!"
"That was ten years ago, Alec! I'm sure there's something now!"
"I doubt it. I really need to remove my feelings I have for him. No matter what he does, I still love him"
"What can I say? You and Magnus are soulmates"
