Ch 9

June 30, 2010

"This is the phone of Bill Kaulitz," Bill's voice cut in for his name before the voice recorder finished off the phrasing, "Please leave a message after the beep."

"Hey Bill, just wanted to know if your plane has landed yet. I guess it hasn't. Well call me when you get a chance. Thanks. Bye."

I didn't introduce myself, assuming he would know I'd be calling. Throughout the past days, our conversations became longer. Hours on end, we talked about anything, everything and nothing.

Excitement bubbled within me. Anticipation gnawed at my heart. Yet, fear as well as doubt lingered in my gut.

My gaze turned upward to the blinding sun, rising slowly with the passing time as I sat on my porch accompanied by my guitar. Its familiar figure rested in my arms. Humming along with the tune my fingers absentmindedly stroked, I realized I began to mix melodies, creating unheard choruses. My voice rang out in words unwritten.

Time must have warped. By the time my eyes reopened, the sun placed itself in the middle of the sky. With my hands sore from the pressure of holding strings, I rested the instrument on the stand, placed beside the rocking chair which I feel asleep in.

Stretching from the awkward position I lay in, I shifted from sitting to standing to find my feet guiding me to the kitchen.

"Mum-" I stared in shock, "You're home already?"

"Yes. Did I not tell you it was only a two day trip?"

"No you didn't. I naturally assumed you'd be gone for a week or two." My sentence faded into a silence. But just as suddenly as the stillness came, it was broken by the assigned ringtone for Bill's number.

"Hey Bill."

"We just landed," he greeted me.

"Great. So what's the plan?"

"Well, Tom and I have a surprise for you," Bill responded. But a muffled groan could be heard through the other side from an unhappy brother.

"Isn't it a surprise enough that with your month off tour instead of going home to Germany, you've decided to visit a girl that you don't even know?" I asked.

"It's not like you're some random girl off the street-"

"But I am, Bill. Don't you see? I'm not even a fan of your music. I'm not particularly one to mess in someone else's life. In any case someone would take one glance at me and turn away."

"We've met you before. We've k-know how family can t-tare you apart." There was less stuttering on Bill's part. It hadn't even been more than a few days and words seem less to get caught on his tongue. "But it can also build you up; same with a f-friendship. Even if this adventure d-doesn't turn out the way we expected there will s-still be something to gain." Another sigh left the lips of Tom, loud enough to be audible to my ear. "Look I've got to go." Clicks and screams penetrated the ear piece. Oh, the paparazzi. He tried to say one more piece of info that was lost to the overly excited fans.
