Ch 17

January 8, 2011

Moscow, Russia

My act just finished upon the stage. On a usual concert, I would find an open spot in the crowd to watch the boys with their passion for music. But tonight was going to be a little bit different.

I felt the vibrations of the opening song through the floor as I entered my dressing room. Already occupied by Adileigh, I greeted her as she pulled our dresses from the waiting rack.

It wasn't hard slipping into my dress, but we decided to apply each other's makeup and fix each other's hair, due to the fact, since our first high school dance we made a truce with each other not to take a look in the mirror 'till preparations were finished.

With Adileigh's back to the mirror, I smeared some concealer on her face as a base. Blending a light layer of foundation into her skin, I added some eye shadow that colored a neutral grey. In the perfect light sparkles would shimmer with a touch of extra shine. Her hair I couldn't figure out how to place and with an enteral debate of up or down, I decided to pull half up in a small messy bun to let her natural waves frame her face.

As I took my seat in the chair, I only hoped she'd not over do my makeup. I mean, I usually wore some, but maybe a little eyes shadow with a bit of eyeliner and mascara. My eyes slid close to feel pressure upon my face. A light brush tickled on my eyelids as fought the urge to open my eyes. Not that I would actually see anything as the mirror was on the opposite side of the room turned around with the reflective side to the wall so neither of us could cheat. A sharp point outlined my lips in a lip liner followed by a slick gloss.

"Done?" I asked impatiently. Surprises never greeted me in the best manner, but I forced my eyes to stay drenched in blackness.

"Nope." And with that, the heat of an iron wafted to the nearness of my face. Small shots of pain, with the heat melding my hair, pricked at my scalp. A moment of nothingness was welcomed, but soon disappeared as fingers picked up needed locks. More tugging occurred. "Finished," she announced joyfully.

Flicking my eyes open, I flinched at the brightness to my eyes. Unaware. Before I could jump from my sitting position, Adileigh handed me my awaiting shoes, which may I say, complemented my outfit perfectly. After slipping them on, I noticed light glinted off the corner of the mirror, which happened to be pulled away from the original stance on the wall.

Per usual we raced to the mirror as fast as our heels would allow without face planting the ground. In the same moment, we touched the wall on either sides of the mirror. Carefree laughing broke out among us as we grabbed the side of the reflective piece of glass to easily turn it around. Still floating in the air, the laughter rang. And as having done this countless times, we placed a hand over each other's eyes as to not to cheat a glance as we faced the anticipating duplicate.

Together, "Three, two, one." Dropping our hands, I stared into the image. What stood in front of me I would've never guessed to be a once shy, unnoticed girl. My hair beautifully pinned in curls toward the front, while the back stayed strait with a bit of an underneath curl to add volume. Black, a small amount of eyeliner colored my eyes. Neatly done, a touch of black swiped outward from my eyes, standing out from my natural pale completion. I wasn't surprised by the blood red lip gloss that shinned in the florescent light and it did happened to match my dress. The black sparkles webbed the top, showing skin just before reaching my cleavage, which then became replaced by bright red silk. A strip of black sparkle acted as a belt to allow tulle to cascade on top the silk. Ending just above my knees, I twirled happily to see my dress flail around in a circle.
