I cannot be your wife

I cannot be your wife

I left you at the alter, because i couldn't go through with " I do."
I know what you did to me in the past, I know you haven't been true.
Love is supposed to be "forever", but i don't think that we can be together.
I know you told me that you loved me.
But deep down inside of you, I think you would rather be free.

I saw the lipstick on your collar, when you came home the other night.
How long has it been, that you have been sleeping around, I really don't want to fight.
You knew there was a chance that i wouldn't show up to marry you.
Last night i cried my eyes out over us, but marrying you wouldn't be true.

Maybe this is not our time, but there is another woman out there waiting for you.
I couldn't make you happy like she was able to.
Some day you may look at this like it was your biggest mistake in life.
But i can't stand there and say " I do ", when i know that you were untrue, I cannot be your wife.

But i can't stand there and say " I do ", when i know that you were untrue, I cannot be your wife
