You laugh and tell him as you always do,

That you two are like socks; forever a pair,

And that you love him, through and through,

Even when you're gone and nothing but air.

But now.

In the rain he holds the umbrella for an invisible girl,

And when he sits, he sits at a space for two,

On your birthday, he'd buy you a set of pearls,

Your favourite after shining sapphires blue.

He remembers you fondly and will continue to,

Even though you've moved on to another place,

Your bright eyes and lips that've already said adieu,

Your long dark hair and effortless grace.

But he recalls your words as easily as your face,

Words said genuinely in that soft, sweet voice,

The sound of you will never ever be replaced,

For it is imprinted in mind with your elegant poise.

Though he knows you love him with all your heart,

He still can't help but feel an immeasurable pain,

Because you and him have been thrown apart,

And inevitably will his memories of you wane.

But after.

When he grows old in body and well-worn mind,

From living almost a life completely anew,

He'll join you when life no longer to him binds,

In heaven rests, and heaven true because of you.
