-I felt so stupid...-

-And what happened then?-

-Nothing much. We talked some more, and then he left.-

-Just like that?-

-Well no. His mom texted him she was going to bed, and was going to lock the doors. He realized he forgot to bring his key with him, so he had to go.-

-How did you part?-

-Umm, I offered to walk him home. Since he is on crutches, and everything. But he was all like: "Then I would have to walk you back home from my building, since it's dark, and you're a girl.." It's not like he could do anything on those crutches.-

-So what? He just left the apartment?-

-No. I walked him to the elevator, and then he got in and left.-

-No kiss?-

I shook my head no.

-Hug?-

I shook my head no again?-

-Wink?-

-Stop it, it's not like that.- I reached across the table in hopes of smacking her.

-Oh please? Then what's it like?- Mila said, annoyed.

-He's a friend. A friend from Japan, finally somebody I can relate to.-

-So you're saying you don't like him?-

-Yes.-

-Mhm... We'll see about that.- She said sipping her morning coffee.

-Enough about me. How was yesterday?-

-I thought you'd never ask.- She smirked and I reached across the table to try to smack her once again.

- I'm joking. It was alright. It was just me, Sarah, and that guy Jordan, you know Jordan. Tall, blonde?-

The conversation soon turned into girl gossip over morning coffee.

.......

Tuesday around 5 pm.

-Thank God you're back in my shift Emma.-

-Was it that bad?- Asked my favorite coworker. There was no one checking out, naturally, we were chatting at the register.

-I'm mean, he's a nice kid, but he's as clueless as they get.-

We chuckled, talking about Mike.

There was a customer approaching, so Emma picked up her coffee, and left to the back of the store.

-Good afternoon.- I smiled politely to the elderly women, who I recognized as my neighbor.

Halfway through, another costumer approached. I laid my eyes on the silhouette.

-Hi.- I whispered, recognizing the familiar face.

-Hi.- He whispered back, smiling.

Instantly my whole body was warm.

-Have a nice day.- I wished to the women, as she was leaving.

I moved onto my next costumer. I smiled at him, as he hopped closer to me, putting two chocolate bars and orange juice on the counter. He leaned on one crotch smiling down at me, as I was scanning his items.
