                      A MONTH LATER

My baby is just the best. I love him so much and even after a month and five days, I still can't get over him.
He's so handsome and has beautiful black eyes. He's the best.
Anyway, I Bathed him because I wanted to discuss something with Siya.
He told me he's at work and that he's swamped.
If Thando wasn't here, I'd die from boredom and just sitting around, doing nothing.
I take a quick shower after bathing him then get dressed. I get dressed in a black high waist ankle grazer, with an olive blouse and my white sneakers.
I dressed him up in a white polka dots onesie and took snaps of him.
He's so photogenic.
I put my stuff in his bag and then go with him in his pram.
We're taking a taxi to Siya's workplace and I know he's going to kill me for that.
We arrive and I have to Walk a certain distance there.
"Good day, I'm here for Mr Dhlomo "
I say to the receptionist.
"And who are you? "
She asks, with a little attitude.
"His girlfriend. He's expecting me"
I say, calm as ever.
"What's your name girlfriend? "
I can hear the sarcasm in her voice, which makes me chuckle.
"You're wasting my time "
I think I've been too patient with this bitch.
I take out my ringing phone. It's Siya.
"Baby, are you here? "
"Yes, this bitch won't give me any assistance. She's here asking me stupid questions "
I see her swallow hard.
"My office is on the last floor, second one from your right"
"I'm coming "
I put my phone back in the bag and leave her with egg on her face.
"You like testing me NEH "
Siya says, immediately when I arrive.
"me? What did I do? "
"You know what you did. When are you learning how to drive? Or you want a driver? "
He asks, coming towards me and kissing my cheek before picking his son.
"A driver. You said you're swamped "
"Yeah. My PA called in sick "
I nod then walk around his huge office.
"This is so fancy"
"I'm a man of class "
He boasts and I just roll my eyes.
"You should have brought me some food"
"You'll order something Siya"
I turn to look at him. He's sitting on his couch, playing with Thando.
"Thanks for coming. I missed you guys"
I nod.
"What's going to happen when he gets older? "
"What do you mean? "
He asks and I can hear he's curious.
"I can't stay at home forever, doing nothing. I've been dependent on you before and we both know how that turned out "
I'm looking at him, waiting to see his reaction to all of this but as usual, he's just blank.
It's hard to read it at times, unless he's turned on or trying to make me horny.
"Do you want to work or study"
He asks and I smile then shrug.
"I don't know. I mean, it's been years since I held a book"
"You can get a tutor if the going gets tough "
I sit next to them.
"Man, I love you "
I say and he chuckles.
"I know "
He kisses my lips. We break it when his door opens and it's his ex wife.
She doesn't say anything, just looks at us for a while then disappears.
"And then? "
I ask Siya who just shrugs.
That was strange.

I don't think Siya loved me that much.
I mean, they're the perfect family with their son.
She looks so perfect and young. I wonder if he was also cheating on me.
Our marriage was really a sham.
I went there because I needed answers. I wanted to know about the baby and this lady but I got it
He's never been like that with me, so caring.
At least not in a while.
I wonder if she knows the monster she's dating.
I don't know why I'm having these mixed feelings but a part of me also feels that he played me for a fool.
Surely this was happening behind my back and there I was thinking I have him where I want him.
When he asked me to marry him, I didn't even think twice because I knew why I was in it.
He owes me. He owes me for all that I had to endure because of him.
I'm so going to make another visit to him.
I end up driving to a bar
I need a few drinks to get rid of the trauma.
I can't let him get to me.
I'm the one who left him for heaven's sake. OK no, I cheated but he's suppose to be dealing with a broken heart, not this.
I guess I was just a pawn in this game but the next is mine.
After three glasses of wine, I drive back to the house.
Gosh, I feel so useless and I hate being broke.
I don't want to put pressure on Luke. It's month end Next Week but even he has commitments.
I fish out my phone and scroll through my contacts list looking for Bongi's number.
She picks up on the second ring.
"Friend"
She says and her background Is a little noisy.
"Hi, can you talk? "
There's shuffling so I assume she's moving to a quiet place.
"I can now"
She says and I was right.
"I need a job hle"
I think she can hear the desperation in her voice.
"You want to work at the hotel again? "
"No. I can't leave my boyfriend "
I can't.
"I'll see what I can do. I'm not promising anything "
"OK, thanks"
Then I hang up with a little hope.
My party is still continuing in the house.
Luke will forgive me for not doing anything.
"Look at you now"
I know that voice very well.
"Siyabulela, what do you want? "
I'm trying not to get scared. He can do anything, I know.
"I told you I never want to see your face Cindi, what the hell were you doing in my building? "
He's not shouting but his voice gives out he's mad.
"You also cheated on me Siya. I don't get why you made me feel so bad"
He laughs but I know he's not pleased.
"I'm going to say this again. Stay away from me or I'll have to do something. Don't force my hand Cindi"
I roll my eyes and that's when his hand meets with my cheek and I'm left burning.
"I wonder if she knows you're this kind of person "
"That's none of your business. You have your cop. Focus on him. "
He clicks his tongue and leaves.
I regret going there now.
