Remus wasn't expecting to see an empty dorm and a letter on his pillow. Usually, the Marauders were bouncing off the walls in the dorm, planning some elaborate prank or a way to get Lily to go on a date with James. He cautiously walked to his bed and picked up the letter, looking around the room for any misfits hiding underneath a certain cloak.

"James, Sirius, Peter?" he called out.

There was no response. He still didn't quite trust that the boys weren't there, but he wasn't feeling up to stumbling around an empty room, trying to find something that was or wasn't there.

He examined the letter. There was a blue seal on it with an intricate design of a GC on it.

"Gracelyn," he murmured, fingers brushing against it.

He carefully opened the letter, avoiding ripping the envelope and seal.

Dear Remus,

Thank you for the time you spent with me. I had an amazing time with you. You always made my heart flutter in ways I've never experienced before. I'm writing this letter to you because even though I do not know what you're going through, I am still your friend. You may push me away all you want, but I'll be here. I'm a bit sensitive at the moment, so please understand why I'd rather avoid you in the meantime. I believe you aren't the sort of person who is able to survive without people. I remember how happy you were with the Marauders and I hope you learn in your heart to forgive yourself and then for whatever happened in the past. I remember that night in the Astronomy Tower. The night where we almost partook in something. You mentioned being afraid of who you are that night. Everyone is afraid of who they are and who they can be, but those sort of thoughts become reality when you're alone and I know you wouldn't want that to be true. Please find it in your large, loving heart to reunite with your best friends.

Love,
Gracelyn

Remus told himself he would not cry, but as he stared at those cursive letters on the neatly folded piece of parchment, he couldn't help but sniffle and blink back his tears. Gracelyn Cohen, a girl he only knew for a few months, wasn't angry at him for ceasing contact with her, but instead, was begging him to take back his friends who she barely knew.

"Moony."

Remus turned around. Sirius partly stepped out of the invisibility cloak, half his body concealed by it. He could see James's hand wrapped around Sirius's ankle, tugging him back inside.

"I had a feeling you three would be hiding," muttered Remus.

James sighed dramatically, throwing the cloak off, revealing Peter hidden underneath as well. "You said we wouldn't come out, Padfoot."

Sirius shrugged. "Promises get broken. We want you back," he said to Remus. "I want you back. I'm sorry for what I did. I don't know what I meant to happen, but it was harmful."

Remus folded the letter and tucked it underneath his pillow. "I'm a monster, but I don't want to be one anymore. You three help with that. It took a lot before I realized it."

"What do you say, Moony? Come back?" asked Sirius.

Remus nodded, a faint smile on his face. "Yeah, I'll come back."
