CLOSURE

I needed to speak to Richard, tell him about what I had found out. In a normal case, going to the cops would have been the next thing to do but Richard has said even the cops couldn't be trusted.

I was so frustrated and tired at this point, I had been ignoring Kayden since the movie night. It had been 3 days and I've avoided him like the plague. Truth is I didn't know how to act around him, granted he might not be aware of what his father had done but he was still his father's son.

I decided that Max stayed with Sarah for a little while until I figured all this out. Plus I also needed him to be safe. Sarah had promised to take care of him and drop him off at school, she didn't seem like she had a problem with it, if anything she was happy about the company.

After my class, I went over to mine and Richard's spot. He had agreed to meet me there. I didn't know what the next step was but all I knew was we needed to get things done fast so I could finally be free.

"Hey, sorry I'm late. Did you wait long?" I asked as I sat down

"No, I just got here. You sounded worried over the phone, is everything okay?" Richard asks

So I told him everything about Kayden being Zach's son. He had this look on his face after I was done and I couldn't exactly figure out what it was.

"You have to be careful, stay away from these people" he warned

"How about we just go to the police and report all of this" I asked

"We can't do that, you think the police would actually investigate this and have them arrested? Zach knows people everywhere , what part of that don't you understand?"

There was something about his tone, he had never spoken to me the way he just did. He was always calm but the way he spoke creeped me out

"Fine, so what do we do?"

"First, you can't tell Kayden about any of this. We can't have him talking to his father about any of this" he stated

"I won't "

"I'm working on something but I can't tell you what it is now, I just need you let me know if you find anything else on Zach" he told me

"That wasn't the plan, you can't hide things from me. You agreed that we were in this together" I said angrily

"Look, just trust me and do as I have said." He says as he stands up to leave

"Richard, we're not done here"
He doesn't respond and just walks out of the cafe.

I was exhausted, I had not enjoyed a good night sleep in days.

Just as I was about leaving my phone begins to ring, without looking at the caller ID I answer

"Sam?" It was Kayden, he had called and texted after movie night but I hadn't responded

"Hey, what's up?" I said awkwardly

"What's up? You've been ignoring my calls and  all you have to say is what's up?" He said, I could tell he was angry

"Look, I'm sorry things have been crazy lately"

"Where are you?" He asked and so I told him, I don't even know why I did.

I don't know how long I waited for him but after a while, I saw him approaching the booth, he sits opposite me.

"I'm sorry " I said as soon as he sat down

"Are you okay?" He looked genuinely worried

"I will be" I said flatly

"I'm here for you if you need anything" he said

I need your father dead was what I wanted to say but instead I said "I know " with a smile.
