Hikaru glanced around the town, his eyes dancing over each and every civillian and every building. It was different from when he'd visited with Jiraiya, but it still held the same, pugent flowered scent.

"Maa, is there a festival around here somewhere?" Kakashi asked, turning a page in his book.

Akihiko grinned, brown eyes holding stars in them. "Nope. The only time we really have a festival is when Jiraiya-sama visits. Wait- wait, Taro, Taro-chan is he here?!"

"He's here today. You can tell. Stronger smell of the flowers our prostitues bathe themselves in." Taro grunted.

Hikaru's blood ran cold, panic starting to grip him in it's jaws. He couldn't see Jiraiya- he'd slip up somehow, break down somehow. He'd break into tears if he saw his old sensei. His mask, which had been oh-so-carefully constructed, was barely holding together.

He wanted to run in the other direction, far away, back to Konoha where it was safe from Jiraiya. But, at the same time, it wasn't. It never was, and it never would have been. His mind whirled, and he'd cast a glance at Kakashi, but the fellow jonin seemed more interested in what Taro had just said then in looking back at Hikaru.

Of course he would be. Hikaru thought dryly although some part of him was hurt. We did, technically and in the most basic of terms, have a fight. A disagreement.

A loud, bellowing laugh distrupted whatever Akihiko was about to say. They all turned around, Hikaru more slowly than the others, and stared at the direction the laugh had come from.

Bushy white hair. Red markings on rosy cheeks. A wide smile with a large arm slung over two young ladies.

It was Jiraiya in all of his perverted glory.

Hikaru took a small, shaking step back as Akihiko rushed forwards, while Kakashi calmly walked. Taro sighed and turned towards Hikaru, saying words that fell on deaf ears.

"That's Jiraiya-sama. My twin is infatuated with him depsite the fact that he's only read the first installment of that damned series. " He snorted. "Anyway, here's your payment. You can probably leave now, but it might take a bit for Hatake-san to leave Jiraiya-sama's side considering the perverted book he was waving around."

"Tell him that if he needs me, I'll be at the gnarled tree a few yards away from the town." Hikaru shakily replied, taking the money Taro handed to him with viciously trembling hands, ignoring the urge to sprint away and never return-

Hikaru turned, his fingernails digging into his palms, and he walked towards the gnarled tree on weak legs. His heart was in his throat.

"Ay, gaki! This is how you do it- not whatever you're doing." Jiraiya showed him the seal array again. "Remember? Always start with the main elements then work towards the side elements."

Hikaru grinned up at him. "Got it!" He carefully drew a few kanji in dark black ink, spoiling the pureness of the white scroll. "M'kay! My first Uzumaki-style storage scroll is done, dattebayo!"

Jiraiya smiled at him, before a leer was etched onto his face. "I'm going to go stop at a bar. Wanna come with? You're old enough-"

Hikaru shuddered, horror flying down his spine. "No thanks, Ero-Sennin. I've had enough of women to last me a lifetime."
