Sneaking In

I step outside the cave and take a deep breath. I have never done anything besides working for the tribe. I was born in this tribe, lived in this tribe for my whole life. I barely leave it. I'm just an ordinary girl. However, now I have a mission with the upmost importance. If I succeed in this, the Muslim Türk Nation can control Anatolia.

"Zeynep." I turn around at the soft voice. Amir looks into my eyes. I stare uncomfortably at the dirt on the ground. His emerald eyes look at my dark ones and I blush. Then I remember Konur Alp. I have totally forgotten about him this week. Usually in the tribe, I have nothing else to think about. But now I am busy. Too busy to think about Konur. Has he already forgotten me?

"I hope you succeed and come back safely." Amir seems to have broken out of his trance. "Eyvallah, Amir Abi." I head to my horse. Not Karim, but a replacement for this mission. I look back one more time. I might not make it back.

I nod at Kılıç Bey and ride to the devil's lair.

Amir loaded me with a mongol uniform, as well as bow and arrows and some food. My parents are real strict on halal food.

I am standing near the entrance of Balgay's tent. I am starting to get tired, as I've been here for three hours. But I have a job, and I don't want to let Amir or the team down.

Balgay and Cerkutay whisper as they mount Kongar onto a horse and set him out. I am not sure what they are planning, but it seems to have to do with Osman Bey. Balgay laughs and walks toward the tent. He stands up and yells out to his soldiers. "Osman will be dead tomorrow! We set him against his own plan. We have changed what he had taken from us, back to our own. Party tonight! My treat!"

He walks into the tent, laughing at all the hoots and hollers from the askeriler. I smirk under my mask.

Party all you want to tonight, Balgay, I think, because your laws will be out of here before tomorrow.
