I sighed, remembering all those things that happened a while back.

Doesn't matter. Focus on now.

"You ready?" Alexander asked.

"Do I look ready?" I replied sarcastically.

He smiled warmly. "You do."

I raised an eyebrow. "I do?"

"Y/N! I already told you! I'm already married!"

Oh. My. God.

I backhanded him on his chest. "Shut up!"

I must've knocked the air out of him because he began wheezing, but I know half of it was from laughter.

He'll be fine. I walked away.

~~~
We were currently on the move to get to the lake. I sighed as I took the bullets out of my gun as instructed earlier and placed them in the little carrier I had.
I stroked the horses' neck that I was riding on. She's such a beauty.
Only about half got horses hehe...
"We're here!" I heard Johnson shout from the distance. Soldiers began spreading the word, but as I said, I heard.
Soldiers got into their organized positions. I don't know why we take time coming up with those plans because everyone's just going to run around like crazy once everything starts.
I rode over to Johnson, even though I didn't want to.
"I think we should put some soldiers in the trees. It could really help."
He looked at me like I was stupid and scoffed. "People don't know how to climb trees."
"Excuse me, I slept in a tree every day for a year!" I furrowed my eyebrows.
He snickered. "Imagine sleeping in a tree. If you arrange everything yourself, I have no problem with it. Just don't bother me again."
He's actually being nic- sort of nice for once. Huh....
~~~

Maybe twenty got in the trees? I don't know.

I want to take a nap...

"Alexander!" My voice rang out.

He appeared by my side, all giddy. "Hi."

"It's good to see your face."

"Of course. I have a beautiful face. Now, what's up?"

"I'm bored," I groaned. "And anxious."

"I think everything will start shortly," he said gravely. "It's only a matter of time."

~~~
An hour or so later, word spread.
Ships could be seen trying to leave the harbor.
More ships were seen blocking the harbor.
The plan was working.
Half an hour later, the British ships were about to arrive and unload at the shore on our side.
It's about to go down.
People with horses made sure they were well behind the tree line, keeping hidden.
Every soldier held their gun in one hand and a round of bullets in the next.
Oh, but except for some idiot.
Right when the redcoats were about to make the land, a single gunshot fired.
My heart stopped.
I couldn't even think.
I heard shouting in the distance. Orders for everyone to load their guns. But it wasn't Johnson's orders.
It was British General Cornwallis'.
So much for a surprise attack.
I will update later again today, or tomorrow I promise! I just wanted to get something out, and I would've written more right now, but my study hall is almost over.
Thank you guys for almost 10k reads! I can't wait for that milestone!
Thank you for 370+ votes and 900+ comments!
As I said earlier, this book will be ending soon, but I will always keep my one-shot book open for requests!
I am currently working on a Teen Fiction book if anyone is interested. I'll publish it once I get a good amount of chapters done. Here's the cover and the summary:
"If you're open to it, New Orleans will teach you about yourself, but if you want to hide from who you really are, the city will help you do that, too
"If you're open to it, New Orleans will teach you about yourself, but if you want to hide from who you really are, the city will help you do that, too." - Laurell K. Hamilton.
Sixteen-year-old Ellis DuBois is the daughter of an upper-class family in New Orleans, Louisiana, but she prefers to spend all of her time scouting the beautiful city. She knows almost every nook and cranny by heart and has connections with certain people.
Asher Monreau also has connections.
What will happen when connections connect?
I'll improve it later, LOL.
Also, remember when I wrote about the 400m race between you and John? Well, I ran the 400 in my track meet Friday and my time was 1:12 :)
Hamilton Question of the Day: What's a Hamilton-related fact that even most of the fandom doesn't know?
My answer: (Some of you probably know this, but-) Hamilton's speech at the Constitutional Convention was over six hours long.
It's literally stated in Non-stop "Goes and proposes a new form of government... Talks for six hours—the convention is listless" but I think everyone totally overlooks it.
Bruh, I can't even sleep for six hours straight, much less talk.
Regular Question of the Day: Have you ever been called the wrong name before (not by your family)?
I was new to my school this year, and I've been called Emily and Jillian so far...
Love you guys! You can always DM me about anything!
