The Night Fury jerks his head to the side, making Hiccup scoop the knife up with his foot and toss it in the lake. The Night Fury's demeanor quickly changes as he sits, ear twitching as he curiously watches Hiccup with wide puppy dog-like eyes.
...
The dragon's spikes begin to relax and lower, his head tilted as he slowly begins to walk forward, sniffing at the fish as his pupils dilate.
(Y/N) smiles encouragingly, pausing when she feels a tickle in her nose. She winces, a sneeze escaping her just as the dragon was directly in front of her.
He snorts and jumps in surprise, his spikes upright and his wings flaring open from being startled before he seems to vanish. (Y/N) gasps softly, looking around before focusing in front of her. If she squinted, she could faintly make out the form of the dragon in front of her.
"I'm sorry," She softly apologizes, sniffling and smiling nervously. "I didn't mean to frighten you."
The dragon slowly reappears and stares at her, tilting his head. A leaf from the trees above the clearing falls onto his nose, his nose twitching for a moment before he sneezes, shaking his head as (Y/N) jumps and lets out a soft laugh.
...
Hiccup jumps slightly, looking over at (Y/N) with an amused grin at the sound of her laughter. He nervously looks between her and the odd dragon, silently debating if he should go to her.
She looks over, catching his eye and smiles softly, shaking her head. Hiccup nods back, grinning. The Night Fury tilts his head, and a moment later, an odd rumble sounds through his throat, seeming to mimic a laugh.
Hiccup looks back at the dragon and slowly offers the fish, making the Night Fury lowly purr as he slowly approaches, crouched lightly and ears flat.
He opens his mouth, revealing a gummy cavern inside.
"... Huh. Toothless," Hiccup mumbles slowly, shaking his head in confusion. "I could have sworn you had--"
Fangs appear in his mouth as he swiftly snatches the fish, making Hiccup gasp and jolt away as he devours the fish.
"... Teeth."
The Night Fury licks his lips before pausing, looking over Hiccup's small frame and approaching with a soft rumble.
"Ah... No, no, no," Hiccup frantically mumbles as he backs away, tripping and landing on his rear as his back presses against a boulder. "I-- I don't have any more."
The dragon stares at him as he continues to rumble, not even a foot in front of Hiccup. He begins to gag, doing this for a few moments before regurgitating up half of the fish onto Hiccup's lap.
He groans in disgust, the dragon sitting back on his haunches and watching him.
...
The dragon slowly approaches once more, the pupils in his (E/C) eyes dilated as he softly purrs.
He looks between her and the fish before slowly grabbing the fin with the front of his teeth, gently pulling it from her hand. He backs up a step before scarfing it down with a pleased rumble, licking his chops when he was finished and purring quietly.
"I'm glad you liked it," (Y/N) smiles as he backs away slightly, looking at her with perked ears.
(Y/N) looks down and reaches for her bag, making him hiss and lowly growl. She reaches inside her bag, pausing at his clear apprehension.
"It's okay," she nervously smiles as he stares at her in a crouched position. "I promise I'm not going to hurt you. I want to help."
(Y/N) slowly reaches in her bag, taking out the bandage roll and the herbs she had borrowed from Gothi as the dragon curiously chitters.
