Chapter 14: Expecting yet Unexpected

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Valdemar paced in the room, impatiently waiting for the doctor to come in. He's been pent up and worried to death. His beloved was out cold still, but breathing.
At least that was an okay sign that his wife was alive and well. What bothered him was the fact that Lixue lost unconsciousness and then the doctor was taking his sweet time to get to the CASTLE!
His eyes darkened in color, a deeper ruby color, veins expanding and pulsating.
Where is he?!?
"King Valdemar."
Valdemar snapped his eyes from where he glared down at, Vaayn walking in behind the doctor. The old man of a doctor took off his hat and bowed before Valdemar.
Vaayn stood the far end. "He has arrived. Has the Queen woken yet?.."
"No. Now what took you so long, doctor?"
The old man didn't make eye contact with King Valdemar, not wishing to seem like a challenge. He answered in a soft tone. "Yes I apologize for the delay, there was an incident while on the carriage ride here. But I am here now."
The doctor sucked up some courage and looked up to Valdemar. Valdemar however, stared insanely, his eye twitched. The doctor gulped.
Vaayn was one to break the very unfriendly eye contact between doctor and dragon. "My King, it was unexpected. All of this was. But let's first take care of the queen. Your wife." He said, coming to help out the poor doctor who looked like he wanted to curl up in a ball.
Valdemar slowly looked to Vaayn, the counselor just watching him deadpanned as if this was normal. Though this was something entirely different, Vaayn didn't let it faze him all that much.
Valdemar tsked and went to Lixue's side. One glance to the doctor as he just stood there. "Hurry up." He said coldly before taking his beloved's hand and squeezing it.
The doctor took that directive and gets his things.
The had checked Lixue for any type of injuries that could possibly be the reason for the his unconsciousness.
There were one thing that was bothering and unsettling. King Valdemar hadn't given the poor man any space whatsoever.
Practically breathing down his neck, watching with those piercing red eyes, slitted and powerful.
The doctor couldn't much less focus either. He understood the reason for his overprotection but he can't focus-
"Is my closeness bothering you?.." Valdemar suddenly asked, venom laced in his tone, eyes sharper even more and daring the man to say something, anything.
"N-not at all Lord Valdemar, it is all but fine." The doctor said, lying between his dentures. He's done this work so much that he can say that Valdemar was the worst Dragon King to deal with when it came to something serious. He was as stubborn as a mule.
Vaayn sighs. "My King, the doctor can't do his work if your breathing down on him. He isn't here to harm the queen." Valdemar snuffed out smoke that tickled the back for the doctor's neck, making the man flinch. "He is taking to long."
"Your not letting him work." He replied respectfully. "I'm highly doubtful he'll harm the Queen, especially when he is sweating louds."
Valdemar rolled his eyes and stepped away from the doctor. "I hate this. What is taking so long in finding out with what's wrong with him??"
