'Wake up Eve' I hear Camila say "Wake up sweetie you can do it' my mom tells me 'Come on Eve wake up' my dad tells me
"Come on Eve!" I hear Flynn yell as I cough up water "Oh my God" Flynn mumbles as he leans me up so I could cough the rest of the water out He quickly pulls me into a tight hug "I though I lost you" he whispers to me "You won't lose me, I promise" I whisper back as I finally catch my breath "You ok?" Finnick asks me I give him a thumbs up as I say "Oh just peachy" I groan "Let's get what we need and get off this bloody island" Johanna says as we all start walking back to the beach
"So besides Brutus and Enobaria, who's left?" Kattnis asks "Maybe Chaff. Just those three." Peeta says "They know they're outnumbered. I doubt they'll attack again. We're safe here on the beach" Finnick tells us "So what do we do? We hunt em down?" Johanna asks us but before anyone could answer we hear a little girl scream "Kattnis! Help me!" The little girl screams Kattnis instantly jumps up "Prim!!" She screams "Prim!" She screams again taking off "No!" I yell as I run after her "Kattnis! Kattnis wait!" Finnick yells running after her "Prim!!" I hear her yell as she stops "Kattnis!" I yell running after he still
Once I get to her the yelling had stopped. "You ok?" I ask her but then I hear someone yell. Someone I thought I'd never hear "Evelyn!! Evelyn I'm alive help me!!" I hear Camilla yell "Camila?" I mumble "Evelyn, Evelyn no it's not her" Kattnis tries to tell me as I run past her "Camilla!!! Camilla!!!" I scream following the noise "Camilla!!" I scream again coming to a stop "Evelyn no it's not her. It's a jabber-jay. It's not her" she tells me "Where do you think they got that sound then? Jabber-jays copy" I tell her "Kattnis" we hear a boy yell this time "Gale?" I hear her mumble but then the birds start to attack us "Go! Run Kattnis come on!" I yell as I grab her arm We take off running back towards the group but the birds keep attacking us, clawing at our backs. The yelling just kept getting louder and louder as we run.
Kattnis and I keep running until we finally see the rest of the group. "Flynn!" I yell as I run up to him but I see him bagging on a force field I start to bang on the wall "Flynn!! Flynn! Please Flynn!!" I yell "It's ok! It's ok!" I hear him yelling
I put my hands over my head as the yelling started bringing flashbacks into my head "Eve it's ok! No no no it's ok!" I hear him mumble through the force field The birds yelling gets louder as they keep attacking us. I look to my side to see Kattnis scream with her hands on her head I pull her under me using my body as a shield for her. I let out another scream from the pain and the flashbacks. Before everything seems to stop
"Hey hey hey it's ok. It's ok. The hours over, it's finished" I hear Flynn tell me I turn around in a panic "Camilla! Where is she!" I ask Flynn quickly "No no she's not here princess. It wasn't real" Flynn tells me I take a deep breaths as Flynn holds me "You're ok princess you're ok" he whispers to me "Your fiancé is right. The country loves your sister. If they torture her or did anything to her, forget the districts, there would be riots in the damn Capitol" Johanna tells Kattnis "Hey, how does that sounds snow? What if we- what if we set your backyard on fire? You know you can't put everybody in here!" Johanna yells up to the sky as we all watch her have a little break out "What?" She asks us "They can't hurt me. There no one left I love, and the ones I tolerate are sitting right here. I'll get you some water" she tells us walking off
Kattnis jumps next to me as Johanna taps her shoulder, she hands her a thing of water "Thank you" Kattnis mumbles
"Who's Annie? I heard Finnick say something about her to mags" She asks after a few seconds "Annie Cresta. The girl mags volunteered for. She won like... four years... five years ago." Johanna tells her "Is she the one that went a little.." Kattnis trails off as Johanna nods "Love is weird" Johanna says after a few seconds I see Kattnis look at Peeta before I stand up "I'm going to get some more water" I tell them "I'll come with you" Kattnis says standing up
As we get some water I decided to speak up "Who's prim? If you don't mind me asking" I ask her "She's my younger sister" Kattnis answers "Is she the one you volunteered for?" I ask her "Yeah, she doesn't deserve to be in here. She wants to be a medic, wants to help people, she's not a killer or hunter. She can't even hurt a fly" Kattnis chuckles "She sounds very kind. I'd love to meet her one day" I smile "She would love you" Kattnis smiles
"Who's Camilla?... Is she the one..." Kattnis says trailing off "The one I was in the games with? Yeah, yeah she was" I answer her question "How did you know her?" she asks me and I let out a small laugh "When I was about 8 I was watching 6 unload things into 12. I caught her out of the corner of my eye watching as well. After a bit of talking I found out she had snuck onto the train from 6. As any 8 year olds would do we started playing and talking until the train was about to leave. She told me she would come every time they unloaded things so we could meet up. Funny enough she was my very first friend" I smile "Really? But you were 8, I'd think any 8 year old would have tons of friends" she laughs "Yeah that's true. But then again I wasn't any normal 8 year old" I laugh "My parents trained me form the moment I could walk. I learned how to survive and how to use every type of weapon there was at the age of 8. Because of the training and because my parents didn't let me get out much, I didn't have any friends. And I know what you're thinking but ni my parents weren't horrible. The reason they didn't let me get out much because they didn't want me to feel the same pain they did when all of their friends went into the games and never came back. That's also why they trained me, because they wanted me to be ready if I was ever chosen. Little did any of us know I would volunteer to go into the game, and well you know the rest" I tell her smiling at the memory of my parents "What happened to them? Your parents" She asks me "Um- before I went up into my games they brought them into the room. And as I was in the tube the peacekeepers started beating them. Then they took out their guns and shot them both. London and Roman told me snow wanted to slow me down, make me hesitate." I tell her "I'm so sorry Evelyn." She tells me "No it's ok I've learned to live with it to some extent" I tell her
"We have a part to play in this all Kattnis, maybe we don't even know ourselves what that is yet but... if you ever can't do something, kill someone or even say something. I'll do it for you, I'll have your back as long as you have mine. You're young you don't need all this stress" I laugh "Thank you Eve. I don't think any of us need this stress" she tells me "Now that is true" I smile as we make our way back to the group
