The plane lands in 12 as we all walk out. "So I wanna start with you both in front of the justice building ok?" Cressida tells us "Yeah" I nod As Kattnis and I walk forward I hear her speak up again "Bang. First shot" she tells the crew "Evelyn tell us what happened here." Cressida says "We were all standing right here. The Capitol sent Kattnis' family, peetas family, and Evelyn's mentor and stylist to 12 to watch the games. No one knew why but we couldn't refuse. We watched as Evelyn fired that arrow. The screens just went dark. Nobody had any idea what happened. Peacekeepers forced people back into their homes. For maybe an hour or so the town was just dead quiet. Little past 9, we heard their trucks pulling out. All of them. Every single peacekeeper. And I knew what that meant. Me and a couple guys from the mines, we started pulling people from their houses and tried to get em out to the fence line but a lotta people were scared of the forest. So they headed up onto the road. Make a break for it that way." Gale says and walks off a bit "Stay with Gale" I hear Cressida whisper
"915 of us made it to the fence. Then we watched as bombers circled back towards the road." Gale says as we walk up the hill "They firebombed them as they run away. 915 out of 10,000.... I should've grabbed more people. I should've dragged em with me. Some of the kids I could've carried." Gale says "You saved so many people Gale. Without you, there would be no district 12. Not even the memory of it." Cressida tells him as Kattnis puts her hand on his shoulder
We went into my house as I grab some more herbs for Kattnis' mom. And a few old pictures of my family. I turn the corner to see Kattnis kissing Gale and I quickly turn around "Oh my eyes" I groan looking up at my ceiling until I watch Gale walk past me. I walk over to Kattnis seeing her eyes glossy "Who did you love first?" I ask her "Huh?" She asks me "Who did you love first? Gale and Peeta" I ask her again "Gale, he's been there for me since I can remember. Then Peeta, during the games" she answers "Some advice....If you really fell for the first one, then you wouldn't have fallen for the second. Just something you can think about" I tell her before walking out
We all sit at the water watching the stream flow by. I watch as a mockingjay bird flys down next to us. Then Pollux points at his pin "Yeah that's a mockingjay" I smile He whistles and then the bird flys away. Then more birds fly as there sound becomes louder "Well now they'll never shut up" gale mumbles Pollux then looks at me He touches his mouth then brings it forward wiggling his fingers "You want me to sing?" I ask him and he shakes his head yes, smiling. The song my mom sung to me immediately comes to mind
