Effie helps Kattnis and I get ready in our outfits. Kattnis in all black with her braid as I stand there with my black and strips of gold and my hair in a pony tail. "Well about to be quite the show. Oh you both look lovely as ever. Just beautiful. Finishing touches." She says walking off I quietly hand Kattnis a nightlock pill as I put mine in my outfit Effie puts our bows on the our backs before we walk out.
We walk as people were sitting in the stands, crowding on the ground as people played the drums. Coin started to walk out onto the platform as Kattnis and I walk up to our spot. A crowd of people followed Kattnis and I from behind. Almost as if they were our army we were leading. Kattnis and I make it to our spot seeing snow tied up on a pole.
"Welcome to the new Panem. Today, the day on the avenue of the tributes, all of Panem, a free Panem, will watch more than mer spectacle. We are gathered to witness an historic moment of justice. Today, the greatest friend of revolution will fire a shot to end all wars. May their arrows signify the end of tyranny. And a beginning of a new era. Kattnis and I both draw our arrows raising it at Snow. We both keep it there staring at a smirking Snow. "Three" I whisper to Kattnis "Two" she whispers back "One" I say before we both move are aim and fire at coin
Both our arrows hit her straight in the heart as she falls to her knees falling off the platform. I watch as snow bursts out with laughter, blood falling out of his mouth.
I grab my nightlock pill when Flynn comes and knocks it out of my hand. "No!" I say looking at him before two people on either side grab me The crowd runs by me yelling 'kill him' as they sprint at Snow. I keep eye contact with Flynn as the guards drag me away.
The guards lead Kattnis and I into a room. We both turn around when we hear the doors lock. But no one else was in the room. I look at Kattnis before we both go and sit down against the wall. Finally after who knows how long someone walks in, both the guards walk out of the room and Kattnis and I jump up. Then haymitch walks in. Kattnis and I both sit back down as he comes and takes a seat in front of us. "I'll say this for you both, you don't disappoint. Uh Plutarch gave a letter for you both" he says "I don't want it" Kattnis and I say at the same time "You both never make it easy do you?" He asks "Ok I'll read it for you. Kattnis, Evelyn, maybe the country was shocked tonight by your arrow but once again I was not. You're exactly who I believed you were. I wish I could give you proper goodbye but with both coin and snow dead the fate of the country will be decided tonight. And I can't be seen at your side. Tonight the 22 district leaders will call for a free election. There's little doubt that Paylor would carry she's become the voice of reason. I'm sorry so much burden fell on you both. I know you'll never escape it. But if I had to put you through it again for this outcome, I would. The wars over, well entire that sweet period where everyone agrees not to repeat the recent horrors. Of course we're fickle stupid beings with poor memory's and a great gift of self destruction. All though who knows, maybe this time we'll learn. I've secured you a ride out of Capitol. It's better for you both to be out of site. And when the time is right commander Paylor will pardon you. The country will find its peace. I hope you can find yours. Plutarch" haymitch reads "What now?" Kattnis asks "Home. We go home." He smiles
As we walk down the stairs we see Effie waiting for us "Couldn't let you go without a proper goodbye" she smiles She gives Kattnis a hug then gives me one Then she looks at Kattnis "It's your job to care take of yourself now, promise me you'll find it" she says "Find what?" Kattnis asks "The life of a victor" she tells her "Bye" Kattnis says "Goodbye my girl" Effie smiles giving her another hug then Kattnis walks off
She gives me one last hug before looking at me "Go will a free life, after a long wait it's time for you to finally live" she tells me I nod my head before smiling "Thank you" I smile tearing up before I walk off to join Kattnis
I walk into my old home. Everything the same as how I left it. I lay on my couch until I hear a noise, I stand up and start to follow the noise only to find buttercup sitting on my counter. "Go. Go you stupid cat she's gone." I tell it but it doesn't move "Prims not here! She's gone! London gone! Romans gone! So go! I don't want you all you are is a reminder of everyone I loved is gone so go!!" I scream at the cat as I slam a plate and cup on the ground. But the cat doesn't even move. I hold myself up on the counter in front it letting out cries. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" I quietly mumble as I pick up the cat holding it to my chest
I walk through the forest just taking in the warmth and the site of the trees and fields. It was beautiful, even more beautiful than I remember it being. I started to walk back when I see someone kneeling on the ground. I walk over before I finally realize who it was.
"Flynn?" I ask He looks up seeing me before standing up "Hey" he smiles "You came back." I say "Yeah" he nods and I look down at his hand to see him holding a plant "Oh uh I found this, in the forest, there lotus and primrose flowers." he tells me I feel tears cover my eyes as I walk over and give him a tight hug "I love you princess" he tells me I pull apart and look up at him We both lean in, then are lips touch. A soft but yet deep kiss. I've waited years to do this, years of pain leading up to this one moment.
After we pull apart I look up at him smiling "I love you too" I smile
