"I have a plan" Beetee says as we all sit together "Where do the careers feel the safest? The jungle?" Beetee asks "The jungles a nightmare" Johanna says "Probably here on the beach" Peeta answers him "Then why are they not here?" Beetee asks us "Because we are. We claimed it" Johanna says "And if we left, they would come" Beetee says "Or stay hidden in the tree line" Finnick adds "Which in just over 4 hours will be soaked in water from the 10 wave. And what happens at midnight?" Beetee says "Lighting strikes that tree" I answer "Here's what I propose. We leave the beach at dusk. We head to the lighting tree. That should draw them back to the beach. Prior to midnight we then run this wire from the tree to the water. Anyone in the water or on the damp sand will be electrocuted." Beetee tells us "How do we know the wire won't burn up?" Johanna asks "Because I invented it. I assure you it won't burn up" he tells her
I watch as Finnick Johanna and Beetee all look at each other. I glanced at Flynn feeling like I was missing something. "Well it's better than hunting them down" Johanna says "Yeah why not? If it fails, no harm down anyway, right?" Kattnis says "All right I say we try it" Peeta says "So what can we do to help?" Flynn asks Beetee "Keep me alive for the next 6 hours. That would be extremely helpful" Beetee answers "Consider it done" I smile
I sit with Flynn a little bit away from everyone "Flynn... do you-do you feel like we're missing something? It feels like Finnick and Johanna aren't telling us something" I tell him "I don't know, maybe they're just scared. They know each other better than we do" Flynn shrugs "Yeah, yeah I'm probably just stressing out" I say "It's gonna work" Flynn tells me and I look up at him "Yeah, it will. Cause I don't know what ill do if it doesn't" I tell him Then Flynn grabs my hand "We'll make it out again Princess. Together" he tells me "Together. I promise" I smile We both start to lean in until we realize what we were doing. We put our heads on each other while letting out a small laugh "After" I say and he looks at me confused "After this is over, then we can be together" I smile "Ok" he smiles "Alright love birds!" I hear Johanna yell "Let's go princess" Flynn says helping me up
We all start to make our way to the lighting tree. As we were walking the fallen tributes pop up. I take a deep breath when I watch mags pop up, I glance at Finnick to see his eyes were a glossy. I watch as the rest of the tributes flash by before it ends and we carry on walking.
"Minimal charring. It's an impressive conductor. Let's get started" Beetee says As he wraps his wire around the tree he speaks up "Typically a lighting strike contains five billion joules of energy. We don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity when this hits. You three girls you go now" Beetee tells us "Take this. Unspool it carefully. Make sure the entire coil is in the water, you understand? Then head to the tree at the 2 water" he says giving it to me. I glance at Johanna while he was speaking but she wouldn't make eye contact with me "We'll meet you there" Beetee tells us "I'm gonna go with them as a guard" Peeta says "No no no you're staying here to protect me... and the tree" Beetee tells him I look around again making eye contact with Kattnis and Flynn, but when I look at Johanna again she doesn't make eye contact. "No I need to go with her" Peeta argues "There are 2 careers out there. I need 3 guards" Beetee says "Finnick and Flynn and protect you just fine on their own" Peeta says "Yeah why can't Johanna stay and Peeta come?" Kattnis asks "You all agreed to keep me alive till midnight, correct?" Beetee asks Kattnis Before Kattnis to answer Johanna speaks up "It's his plan. We all agreed to it." Johanna says "Is there a problem here?" Finnick asks "Excellent question" Beetee says looking at Kattnis "No. There no problem" Kattnis answers
I go to tell Flynn bye but as I walk past Finnick I whisper something to him. "What aren't you telling me?" I ask him but he doesn't answer, instead he just looks away I shake my head before walking over to Flynn. "See you at midnight" I tell him giving him a hug "Yeah I'll see you there princess" he smiles before we walk off
"Come on. I want to put as much distance between me and this beach as possible. Frying is not the way I want to go" Johanna says as we walk But I stop, something was pulling on the wire "There's something..." I mumble Then the wire completely snaps I pull out an arrow as I start to see a career walking up. I hear a grunt behind me then I feel something hit my head I see Johanna cut Kattnis' arm then she comes over to me. She cuts my arm and puts the blood on my neck. "Stay down" she whispers to me Then she throws her axe and takes off running
I finally start to stand up with Kattnis seeing the blood on my arm. I look up when I hear Finnick "Johanna where are you?" He yells Kattnis and I quickly hid under the rock not knowing who to trust at the moment "Johanna?" I hear Finnick say then he takes off running again "Flynn" I mumble as we both start making our way back to the tree
We see something hit a force field and run over to see Beetee on the ground shaking. "Beetee" I mumble I look around at the wire and tree "Peeta!!" Kattnis screams standing up "Flynn! Flynn where are you!" I yell
I see someone start to run up to us so we both crouch down under leaves "Kattnis! Evelyn! Where are you?" I hear Finnick yell He makes eye contact with me as I turn to see Kattnis had an arrow pointed at him "Kattnis don't" I mumble "Kattnis Evelyn" Finnick says "Remember who the real enemy is" he says and then she slowly puts her arrow down
Then I hear the thunder above, I look up to see the shimmering of the force field again. Then I look over at Beetee and the wire. "Kattnis Evelyn get away from that tree" Finnick says I grab one of my arrows and start to wrap the wire around it. Then I grab my bow aiming it up to the sky. "Evelyn Kattnis get away from that tree!!" Finnick tells starting to run at us I aim my arrow waiting to see the lighting. "Im sorry Flynn" I mumble and release the arrow letting out a scream as I go flying.
I lay on the ground barely feeling anything. My eyes blink open to see the whole arena slowly falling to pieces. I watch as a hover craft comes into my site, the claw slowly coming down. I feel myself get lifted up through the chaos around me.
Then I feel my eyes close.
I gasp awake. I lift my hand to feel a breathing tube over it. I quickly take it off looking around me. I see Beetee, and Kattnis beside me but no one else. I slowly sit up looking at the door in front of me. I take the IV out of my arm and stand up.
I grab a syringe as a weapon slowly walking out. I reach a door and hear people talking "Their gonna lose it when they find out about the boys" I hear someone say "They'll still cooperate though?" Someone asks "Without Peeta and Flynn? There's no guarantee" someone says. Without Flynn? What are they talking about
Then the door opens. I see Plutarch, Finnick, and haymitch standing there. "Morning sweetheart" haymitch says "What are you doing!" I yell attacking haymitch and he holds my hands back "You and I syringe against the capitol? This is why you don't make the plans" he says pushing me against the wall Then I look at Finnick "What the hell are you doing in here?" I ask him confused on what was happening "Stop, stop just listen" Finnick tells me "We couldn't tell you, Snow was watching. It was to risky. It was better for you and Kattnis to know nothing" haymitch tells me I shove haymitch off of me then look at all of them "Wheres Flynn?" I ask them "Now.. Evelyn. You have been our mission from the beginning, Kattnis along with that after her games. The plan was to always get you out. Half the tributes were in on it. This is the revolution. And you and Kattnis are the mockingjays..... And we're on our way to district 13 right now" Plutarch tells me "13?" I ask him "13 yes" he answers "Where is Flynn?" I ask them again but harsher this time "He still has his tracker in his arm. Johanna cut yours and Kattnis' out" haymitch says "Where is he?" I ask again "In the capitol" he finally answers me "They got him Peeta and Johanna" he tells me "You son of a bitch!!" I yell as I slap him "You son of a bitch!! I promised him Haymitch you know that!" I yell as I keep hitting him Then I feel a sharp pain in my back. "I promised him!! I promised him!! He can't be gone!! No!!" I cry as I feel my body getting limp "I promised...." Is the last thing I feel myself say before it all goes black.
