Sky and I stayed up studying almost all night. It was a Friday night so we thankfully had no school, but Sky wasn't acting like it...

"Are you seriously that bad at grammar? How did you get into college?" Sky sighs.

"Hey! I got a lot of help from my teacher!"

"How do you expect to be a writer?" Sky retorted.

I had to admit, that comment sort of stung.

I looked anywhere else, but his eyes in embarrassment. Sky's warm palm rested on my head, making me unconsciously look up at him. His gentle, reassuring expression made my heart skip a beat. His eyes trailed to my lips and back in a second and he spoke.

"Okay look, I'm sorry. That was out of line. It's going to be fine, Sport. So stop frowning." He smiled, taking his hand off my head.

Was he nice just now?

"Whoa... Did I step into a parallel universe or did you just apologize for real?" I snickered, crossing my arms and recovering my pride.

He chuckled and said something I had said before.

"Don't get used to it, Doll." He smirked, brushing back his luscious hair.

"How many nicknames are you going to give me?" I laughed along. "You know... I never thought your asswipe had a sweet side. How comforting."

Sky laughed genuinely.

Wow... it is comforting.

Alex... Get a hold of yourself!

"Alex? Earth to Alex..." Sky had been waving at my spaced out self and I blinked a few times before blushing at the realization I had been staring at him for more than I should have.

Sky smirked at my reaction and scooted a few inches closer towards me. We had been sitting on the couch with the books lied on the coffee table. He was now innocently staring at me, while my face burned even more than before.

"Thanks, Alex." Sky smiled differently this time. Like he had realized something or he was into deep thought.

I pushed his face away and smiled it off.

"Your confusing me, Honey. I'm not sure you want me anymore." He winked.

"When did I ever?" I scoffed in amusement.

Were we actually getting along?! Wow... I never thought we'd be this functional. Guess we've lost our marbles just reading books. We're actually tired to the point where we're unconsciously getting along. Yeah... It's probably exhaustion.

We stopped laughing and in a few seconds we were gazing at each other's eyes. Sky tried leaning in and I reacted quicker than expected, just making things even more awkward. I stood up quickly and moved away from the couch; walking towards the kitchen.

"Are you thirsty?! 'Cause I'm thirsty! Hahaha! I'll go drink some sand!"

Did I just say sand?!

"I mean water! Not sand! Who drinks sand? That's crazy, right?! Hahaha!" I ran towards my room, which made it even more awkward, because it's not the kitchen.

I face-palmed myself.

Smart, Alex. Real smart.

I flickered my eyes open to the sunlight peeking through the windowpane and resting on my eye. I lifted my body up slightly with my elbow; my hand shielding my eyes and a hand carefully brushed up against my stomach. I froze and remembered that Sky and I had continued studying last night after I had dragged myself out of my room, making up a lame excuse of why I even went in there.
