[Brielle]

I decided to walk back to where Simon, Maureen, and my sister Clary were. I walked a few meters more to see if the guy who was selling sodas was still there but unfortunately, he wasn't. I could see from the distance that Clary was painting something on Simon's van, probably the new name of their band and I smiled. I was a little bit distracted looking at them when a guy bumped into me.

"Hey! Can you be more careful the next time?" I said to a very tall guy. He stared at me in desbelief and said nothing. What's wrong with him?

***** 8 hours earlier*****

Me and Simon entered the Java Jones café and asked for a table for three. I was on the phone with Clary and she told me she was on her way from the Brooklyn Academy of Art. A few minutes later I hang up and sighed. Simon looked at me.

"How was she? Do you think she made it? Do you think she got into the program?" Simon asked me nervously. I sighed again.

"I don't know. She sounded disappointed. But let's not jump into conclusions yet and be positive. She deserves this more than anyone."

"I know, that's why I'm so worried. Oh god I don't even want to imagine her face if she didn't get in." Simon said looking down to the table.

In that moment, I tilted my head to see towards the entrance of the café and Clary walked in with the letter on her hand. She had disappointment written all over her face.

"Better not look up then." I said and Simon slowly looked up to see Clary. He looked at me briefly just as Clary approached the table.

"Give me the professors names and I... I will end them. You know, with... with a scathing e-mail to the death." Simon said to Clary trying to cheer her up. She looked at us.

"Don't bother." She said at the same time she placed the letter on the table.

I was about to say something when I saw the word "congratulations" written on big letters with red ink. I looked up to her with a surprised face and Clary gave me a big smile.

"And you pretended to sound disappointed on the phone and walked in with the saddest puppy face I've ever seen in my life! I hate you!" I said still atonished.

"I wanted to surprise you." She said still with a big smile.

"You nearly scared us to death Clary!" Simon said equally surprised. "But well played, well played." He said and I stood up and gave her a big hug.

"I'm so proud of you. You really deserve this." I said and she hugged me back.

"Thanks," she says and we both sit down. "You know, it's weird. They kind of liked my assigned work, but the flipped out over the drawings for our graphic novel."

"You're welcome." Simon said a little proud and I chuckled.

"Brie, I never got to ask you, but did you finally decide wether to apply or not for that program in advanced creative writing in the Academy of Arts in London?" Clary asked.

"I actually did. I applied two weeks ago and... I got accepted." I said and Simon almost choked on his cappuccino.

"What?! Why didn't you tell us sooner?! Congratulations!" Simons said excited.
