Hold On (➳Alec Lightwood) [1]

28. [➳hold on]

I'll explain a few things about this chapter and book 2 on the last A/N. Enjoy the last chapter of Hold On :).

I continued to pace impatiently while I waited for Alec to end up his call with Jace. A few moments later, he returned and he didn't seem so pleased.

"What did he say?" I asked as I stopped pacing.

"He kept repeating some bullshit about helping Clary and about how Valentine raised him to be evil and shit. He says the plan is still in motion, but he's not being himself." Alec informed.

"What is he thinking? He's only gonna make the situation worst." Luke said and I took a deep breath.

"No, he isn't only going to make the situation worst, he's going to get himself killed or he's going to get more brainwashed by the psycho than he already is. We need to track his ass down now." I said but Alec shook his head.

"We won't be able to. I'm sure he has already blocked the signal."

"He can't be too far. He barely left about five minutes ago. He has to be near hear somewhere, and we have to find him one way or another." I said and they both were about to say something when my phone began to ran. I took it out and saw Izzy's name on the screen. "I'll be right back." I said to them as I walked a few steps away and answered the call.

"Is everything alright?" I asked. Izzy sighed from the other side.

"I was about to ask you the same thing. Why wasn't Alec picking up? Is there a problem?"

"Shit went down here. Everything's a mess but I'm sure you called because something happened so you go first."

"Right, one crisis at a time. You and Alec need to get to Magnus's apartment. We have Camille, and she's going to give us the book of the white, on her terms. And I'm sure you're not going to like them." Izzy informed and I clenched my jaw. God I hated her.

"Say no more. We'll be there soon." I said at last and hung up. I walked back to were Alec and Luke were and they both gave me a wary look.

"Who was it?" Alec asked.

"It was Izzy. She said we need to go to Magnus' apartment now. They got Camille, but we have to agree to her terms to get the book, and Izzy already told me I'm not going to like them.  What are we going to do about Jace? We can't deal with two problems at the same time."

"You two go to Magnus' apartment. I'll have my pack searching for Jace. Like you said, he can't have gone too far. You need to find the book and wake up Jocelyn." Luke said and I nodded. I walked over to him and hugged him.

"Thank you, and be careful." I said and he hugged me back.

"You too. Good luck."

I pulled away from the hug and Luke walked away. I turned to look at Alec. "Let's go."

He nodded and we both ran to the street to catch a Taxi.

I sighed. "You know, we really need to get a car soon. We waste too much time traveling like this."

"Yeah, but there's only one problem. I can't drive." He said and I reppressed the laugh that wanted to come out. I almost forgot how clueless he was about "mundane" things.

"Don't worry, I'll teach you." I said and he raised an eyebrow.

"Great, we're dead." He said seriously and I raised my eyebrows and parted my mouth in shock. When he saw my reaction he cracked a small smile. "Don't get angry I was just joking."
