After spending the last 2 weeks post ascension bust, I have literally 2 days before Daphne's mate appears. Only two days!
So I might as well enjoy my day with her. Am I right?
I slide out of bed in the Sunday morning and get down to the kitchen for breakfast. I wanted to sleep at the pack house, but Rosalyn doesn't allow me to sleep over there anymore (not that I did often). She says now I'm a liability. Fuck that! She's still my girlfriend until her mate whisks her away.
Tick tock.
"Good morning, mom. Morning, dad." - I greeted them with a big smile.
"It's almost like it's his birthday or something!" - Dad snickered. He thinks he's so smooth.
They hugged, kissed me and wished me a happy birthday. So did Matt, my little brother.
"Thanks, guys. I mean it! I couldn't have done the last 16 years without you!" - I smirked.
"You're welcome, son!" - Dad said with his usual smile.
"Hey dad, are you sure you can't dream about your mate at 16? I had a dream about a lady who said I was special!" - I told them, cheerfully.
"That's because you are, son! You're special! But that's not your mate!" - Mom chimed in.
"Thanks, mom." - I smirked.
"I'm sure, son! But don't worry, there's always next year!" - Dad said in a hopeful tone.
However, we all know by now common people don't dream about their mates, only ascending Alphas do. Or ascending Lunas, of course.
"Don't remind me! My last year with my sweet boy!" - Mom pinched my cheeks.
"Mom, stop it! I'm still 2 years away from being mated! Don't be dramatic!" - I reprimanded her, who grimaced.
"I have to finish breakfast soon because I have a whole day planned with..."
"We know, son! Have at it!" - Mom's face cracked. Dad's conformed. But by now, this is to be expected.
I'm not quitting Rosalyn until her mate robs her from me! Especially not now with just two days away! So I eat my cereal, get dressed and hurry for my birthday date with her. My parents are also stopping by the pack house later to have a family date with my uncles.
