I groaned as the loud ring of my phone jerked me awake. I rubbed my eyes and focused on the screen, it was an unknown number, I frowned as i cleared my throat and answered the call.
"Hello" I drowsily said
"Hey" A familiar masculine voice responded from the end of the line
"I'm sorry, who's this?" I yawned
"Look outside your window" The unknown male said
It was almost 9pm and I really wasn't in the mood for games. I was sure I knew the person on the phone but my mind was too groggy to remember.
"Excuse me?"
"Look out your window, trust me"
"I don't know who I'm speaking to and you want me to trust you?" I questioned
"C'mon Al, please?" He persuaded and it immediately clicked in my head
"John?" I whispered
"Look outside Alaine" I hurriedly moved to my window.
I pushed it open and my eyes widened in surprise. Shred stood right outside my compound looking up at my window with a broad smile, he held a box in hand and gestured for me to come over.
"What's going on?, Why's Shred here?" I asked into the phone
"I have something planned, I'm hoping this would make up for my mistake" He answered and my heart melted a little
"You don't have to do any of this, I wou..."
"I want to. Even if you weren't upset, I still would have done it" He interrupted
"Now follow Shred, he'll lead you to me" He added and I smiled
"Okay, give me a moment to inform Jocelyn"
"Don't worry about that, Shred's handling it" I frowned, confused by his response.
A knock on my door distracted me from feeding my curiosity. Jocelyn slowly pushed open the door and stuck her head in, her eyes roamed round the room until they finally landed on me, her lips pulled into a soft smile and she fully made her way into the room.
"Alaine sweetheart, a guy named Shadrach is here to see you" She announced as I made my way to her, all whilst the call was placed on hold.
"Alright, I'll be down in a minute" I replied
"He also said to give you this?" She handed me a pink box that I hadn't noticed were in her arms
I collected the box and opened it up. I gasped, right before me was an incredibly beautiful velvet gown and I brought it out for proper examination. It was an armless floor lengthed gown with a slit right in front, it had some sort of a ruffle attached to the left side and little stone arranged around the neck, the dress screamed both elegance and simplicity.
"This is so beautiful" Jocelyn cooed in awe
"It really is" I agreed as my hands slowly felt the texture of the material
"What's the occasion though, where are you heading?" She asked
"I honestly have no idea. Shred is to drive me there, apparently John has a surprise planned out" She mischievously smiled and I groaned
