Too heavy to hold

I've been stroking my secret

It purs as I massage up it's back

it smirks as I speak as though it's an opinion,

when it's a matter of fact.

I've been caressing my secrets,

it chases hints of truth in my chest with it's claws,

it chuckles as I threaten to spill the milk,

when I get close it licks up the evidence on the floors.

I've been soothing my secret,

it lives like royalty as I guide it to become old,

it's smug and gloats at my disapproval,

it doesn't care that this secret is too heavy to hold.

I've been petting my secret

it's back arches as I fondle it's fur,

it pulls playfully at my strings,

no matter how much it hurts.

My secret has been stalking me,

it's been vigilantly watching me like prey,

the second I tickling my secret,

it started to break.

Nine lives per secret,

you've only got one life left it was told,

and it snarled in discomfort,

it knew it's burden was too heavy to hold.
