Chapter 29: Hero

Zhui Li arrived at the venue of the first reading of the drama adaptation of her novel. She was there to meet the actors and actress that will play the characters of her most popular novel on her author career. The actors and actress were qualified after an intensive audition for the roles since the novel was famous and many fans were expecting so much for the series and they didn't want it to be a disappointment. Like the usual complaint with regards to live adaptation, fans hope that the plot of the story will not change at all and the actors who will play the main roles can give justice to the characters of the novel that already created a big impression to the readers. But Zhui Li assured that she will be the official scriptwriter of the story and the plot will not be change at all except for minor changes that needed for drama adaptations.

When Zhui Li arrived, everyone looks astonished by her appearance that they all stood up and she was greeted with a warm of applause and she can see everyone vowing towards her. She was surprised that she was treated that way and she was overwhelmed by everyone's greetings. The day before the meeting, she needed to mentally prepare herself because even she was cured from her intense depression, anxiety and panic attacks it doesn't mean that it was totally gone. She still needs to take her medicines and also to do her daily mantra and meditations.

"Thank you everyone for the warm welcome." Zhui Li greeted back to everyone inside the room. "I am overwhelmed by your greetings. Let's work hard for this drama to be successful and I am looking forward to work with everyone." She added honestly. As the script writer, it was Zhui Li's request to meet the actors and actress in order to know them more and helps her in writing script that was appropriate to each actors and actress but still on point in the story. Zhui Li's manager introduced her one after the other to the people inside the hall, the producer, the director and other important personnel that is involved in the filming process. Since it was Zhui Li's first time to see people behind the scenes of dramas, she was happy to know how things works and she wanted to learn more about it.

"This is Darren, he will play as the main actor of the story. I am sure you knew him already since I give you his profile and also he is at the peak of his popularity right now." Her manager replied. "He was everyone in the ads and television."

"Of course, of course, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Darren." Zhui Li smiled. "I am glad we finally able to meet personally and you look more handsome than in television."

Darren smiled softly "Thank you for the complement. It's my pleasure to also meet the renowned Ms. Zhui Li." Darren replied to her courteously. "I am your fan years ago before you've gone hiatus. I am so glad that you were able to make a comeback and I hope we don't make you intimidate with this lot of people greeting you one after the other."

"Not really, I am fine though it's kinda tiring greeting everyone personally." Zhui Li joked. "You really suit to be Boni (the main character of the novel) the way you look is how I imagine him to be. I am happy that they've chose you."

"To hear that from the author itself make me want to make this work successful. I will make sure I will not disappoint you." Darren answered politely. "By the way Ms. Zhui Li, how was your son? Is Yibo doing well?"

Zhui Li looks confused. "How did you know about Yibo? Are you an acquittance of him?"

"Sorry for not informing you earlier but I am Xiao Zhan's close friend and I meet your son in the past thus I know of him." Darren explained. "I heard he came back with you and your other son so..."

"Xi...Xiao Zhan?" Zhui Li repeated. "Y... you know Xiao Zhan?" she asked again with her soft voice.

Darren nodded his head but before Zhui Li was able to say something, the organizer of the event wanted everyone to settle down so that they can start the orientation and other matters that needs to be accomplished.
