The shoots went well. There was little that could go wrong, of course, so it was a swift process. In and out. It was just about the most normal thing we'd ever done, as if I was really just a designer trying to make her way with her boyfriend. Linda certainly thought no different, though she'd eyed the silver ring around my boyfriend's eyes. Mother had distracted her quickly, as she was clearly practised.

The shoots were the first time I'd worn a lot of my own designs and I was absolutely loving all of them. I was considering wearing them more often, but I thought I'd get them out in stores first. And so that's what I did, working with a suspicious but supportive Linda the whole time. She didn't just see me as Mrs Woods' mistake like most of the community did, nor did she see me as her pet. She saw me as Ms Woods or Rebecca and she respected that I had nothing do to with my family—or I didn't have to have anything to do with them. That's why I liked Linda: she understood.

Angela tried to help, too, but I didn't like to get her too involved. Even Colby was more involved than she was.

So, with the help of my mother, I had my designs in a store. Just a small one, but still one big section with my name plastered on it. I was officially a designer and now selling clothes, and boy was the money coming in. If I thought I got paid well for doing almost nothing before, now I was getting paid way too much for simply drawing a couple of pictures and passing them off to other people. Hell, I was basically the CEO of a business for it.

Angela, during all of this time, had made some progress. Not much, but some. She was still hooked on getting bitten but she only got bitten by Aryia, who treated her well—I hoped he was scared of me and what I'd do if he didn't. We slowly began to trust her more and more as time went on until we let her live at her apartment again. I had a feeling I would regret it, though that feeling hadn't been confirmed yet. There was still plenty of time.

I stomped up the stairs after a long day in the studio, busying around trying to get everyone to be more efficient. I'd improved as a boss since Jax left, however, I was still mean when I didn't feel like anyone was paying attention to me or doing adequate work. Some of the new ones learned that the hard way when I pulled out the snappy, bitchy me, which wasn't my personality at work anymore. I'd heard Lewis say this was the real me to the new ones when I snapped—that I was a bitch, essentially, but I didn't take it personally.

Hoping Colby was still in bed, I slid through his bedroom doors. I glanced around the room to see a heap beneath the covers facing away from me, though there was no movement. Colby was asleep, alright.

I carefully shut the door behind myself and crept over to the bed, pulling my shoes off as I went. Gently, I pulled back the covers to see the 'x' tattoo at the base of Colby's neck and smiled to myself, sliding in next to him. He seemed to be asleep so I shuffled across the space and curled against his back, my arm naturally draping over his side.

There was a short time where we stayed like that. Colby never let me hold him, so I was surprised, even if he was asleep and didn't know I was doing it. After a little while, though, he twisted around and wrapped his arms around me, bringing me close to his chest. I didn't argue, pressing myself tighter to him. We didn't say anything; just existed. At least, we weren't saying anything to each other.

"Fuck off, Tara," Colby muttered. I frowned slightly but didn't question it because I was too comfortable. A few moments passed of silence again before there was a knock on the door. Colby grabbed the pillow from beneath his head as it opened then threw it at whoever walked in. I opened my eyes to see Tara standing in the doorway glaring, a pillow on the floor next to her. I couldn't tell if it had hit her or not.

But I could hope.

"Rude," she snapped. "Come on, it's too late for yall to be in bed."

"Fuck off, Tara," Colby replied bluntly as he grabbed a new pillow from behind me and put it under his head.

"Seriously? You two are lazy as fuck."

"Get a job then tell me that, bitch," I snapped back. Tara snorted and disappeared. I didn't trust it, but I also didn't move from where I was. Colby was too warm, considering he'd been under the covers the whole time.

"She's coming back," Colby muttered, "hold on." He disappeared from next to me, moving too fast for me to see him. Next thing I knew, he was back in bed. I looked around to figure out what he'd done when I saw the couch blocking the door. I snorted as I curled into him. Tara started banging on the door but she couldn't open it, despite her vampire strength. I supposed she didn't want to break the door.

"Asshole!" Tara yelled and we both laughed at her. "I wanted to talk to you!"

"Later, bitch!" I yelled back at her.

There was a moment of silence then Colby looked at me with a gentle smile on his face. I smiled back, raising my hand to the back of his head and dragging him down to me. Our lips connected in a soft yet deep kiss, my body arching itself into his. He responded by pulling me close and flipping so I was on top. I pinned him with his hands on either side of his head, our fingers laced together, as the kiss got a little more heated.

My body started to want him. Like, really want him. And I never ignored what my body said. I had his sweatpants off before long, then everything got intense. I didn't feel bad for doing it in the house because the roommates had to be used to it by now. They knew I was loud—only because Colby made me loud—and they knew that we could both last for a very long time.

And that wasn't my problem.
