(One Year Later)

Tessa Winters

It has been a year and we have not had much trouble with other gangs or the government, it has been nice. Hazel just turned seven a few weeks ago and August just turned one. Hazel has loved hanging with her family, she is a daddy's girl now. August is a full mama's boy, as he should be.

Hadley has been helping me train myself because if we are going to be in a gang, I need to know how to defend myself better. Hazel loves it, she has been joining me sometimes. She mostly likes the fact she gets to punch something; it reminds me so much of her father from when we were in school. He loved to get into fight just to hit someone.

Today was my wedding day. I was getting married to my high school sweetheart, my first and last love, the love of my life. I stare at the door and take a deep breath and Hadley grabbed my arm

"It's going to be ok" she reassures me

"I know, I know" I smile giving her a hug

"It's my time to shine" she laughed walking out of the doors

I heard the music starting to get slower and soon the doors are opened revealing me. I smile big as I look towards Asher standing there in his tux. Everyone stands and looks my way as I start to walk down the red carpet leading to my future husband. I fondly make it to him and hand my flowers off to Hadley before holding hands with Asher. She preacher started talking and we said our vows

"Do you Asher take Tessa to be your wife?"

"I do" he answered giving my hand a light squeeze

"Do you Tessa take Asher to be your husband"

"I do" I give his hand a squeeze back

"Till death do you part. I pronounce you husband and wife. you may kiss the bride" Asher pulled me close and kissed my lips. I kissed him back.

Little did we know, that till death do us part would be sooner than later. For that night we were oblivious to what the next day events would hold. We were going to be happy for the last time, this would be the last time we saw our children. If only we knew, we could have prevented it...
