'She hung out with Asher. This is just adding to my theory'
"They had talked about this party Asher was throwing and how cool it was going to be. They were good students, particularly good students. The Monday after the party they were happy, doing what they normally did" she stopped and sat down at the table and chairs, I followed
"So, everything was normal. What's sad about that?" I asked puzzled
"Two weeks later, everything was right in the world or so it seemed. One afternoon after school Tessa was in the library, she was never here after school. It was a late Friday night; she was whispering to herself and walking around the place"
"That's kind of weird" I pipe in
"Well, that following Monday, Asher and June walked in. Tessa not with them. I never said anything, but as the school year came to an end there was not a sign of Tessa anywhere in the school"
"What? She just disappeared?"
"Yeah, it was like she never existed in the school at all. With the disappearance of Tessa, June and Asher stopped coming to the library. They had changed in the last two years of high school as it went on"
"Wait, what do you mean changed them? What happened to them?"
"Asher got mixed with a bad crowd, smoking and drinking. Started getting thrown in and out of juvenile detention. As for June, well she turned into a quiet girl no one wanted to be around. Eventually she moved away with her family"
"So, the disappearance of one girl did that to a friend group?"
"Not did it do that to her friends, her family was a mess as well. I went to church with her family, Tessa's mom denied ever having a daughter, same as her father. They said she was a sinner that was going to hell, that there was no saving her" the librarian shook her head "Her brother would say her parents just sent her away for the sin she made. They were deeply religious, they cared more for their religion then their own kids"
"Do you know what happened to her? She ever come back?" I ask
"She wasn't seen again, I always wondered what happened to that girl and if she was ok now"
"What kind of sin did she make? Do you know?"
"I do not. Why do you care so much about this girl? I know you're not related to her, why go finding this girl now?"
"Because I've already found her" the bell rang I went to get up, the lady grabbed my arm
"Don't tell anyone about the kid. You never know who's listening or watching" is all she whispered before walking away
'What was she talking about?'

All day that is what I thought about. 'Tessa was the girl who broke Asher's heart. Asher was Hazel's father. She did not run away; she was sent away because of Hazel. How did she know about Hazel, who was watching?' All this was too much. I stood out in the front courtyard waiting for my brother and his best friend to come get me. I heard a honk and looked over to see Asher's white 2006 ford truck. I run over and get into the back
"So how was your last day of school?" Ryder asked
"Good" was all I answered, I looked over at Asher and he was looking back at me
"That's it? It was simply good?" I looked at his green eyes with little specks of hazel
"Yep" I answer, same eyes as Hazel. How did I not see it before?
"Are you ok Had? You seem on edge" Ryder asked, I can't tell them about Tessa's secret. It is not right, that is for her to tell
"Yea I'm fine. Kind of stressed about college stuff" I lie
"You'll do fine" with that we left and headed to the garage, or at least I thought that was where we were heading
"Where are we going?" I ask
"To eat, Ryders been complaining since we left the garage to come get you" Asher shook his head in disappointment
"Hey, I'm growing. I've got to eat"
"You're not growing. Maybe your ego" I scoff
"Nah baby sis, my man down there" he motions to his pants. I cringed and shielded my eyes screaming no. Asher just laughed
"Keep dreaming Ryder" he patted him on the shoulder and Ryder just flipped him off
"And you keep dreaming on about that Tessa girl" at this I perk up
'What about Tessa?'
