"Because it was a free house that was already paid off" I brush off the question
"That's not the only reason, is it?" I stare at her then look away
"No"
"It's because of Asher? Isn't it?"
"Yes, but even if a small bit of me wants to tell him that he has a kid. I can't"
"I know you can't, but what if he figures it out?"
"There's no way he will, at least I hope there isn't a way he could"
"Tessa, this may sound crazy, but he does have many ways to find out"
"You better not tell him" I shot up and pointed a finger at her
"I wouldn't" she raised her hands getting up as well "But he has resources that can give him information about you, even things you don't think could link her to him. But there is"
"How does he have resources, what are these resources?" I was growing anger at this new information
"He's.... he's in a gang Tes" I freeze and got quiet
"W-What? Lair, your lying" I shoot out at her
"I'm not lying, he is. He runs the most feared gang in the state..." she trailed off looking at her shoes
"No, he promised he wouldn't take over his father's gang" I whisper
"You knew!"
"Yes, I knew, we knew everything about each other!" I throw my hands up "We knew every detail about both our lives, you could say we were that in love"
"Oh Tessa" Hadley wrapped her hands around my neck and gave me a hug. I hugged her back

"There is just something so familiar about this girl, Tessa Winters. I just can't point my finger on it" I groan and look down at my desk as Ryder sits a crossed from me
"I don't know man" he shrugged "Maybe you've met her in the past"
"I don't know, I don't think I'd forget a girl like her. Especially a girl her age with a kid" I shook my head, then I clicked. I picked up my work phone "Rogers, get in here"
"What are you going to do?" Ryder asked sitting up, the door to my office opened and in walked Rogers
"I need you to find everything you can on this girl" I wrote down her name on a paper and handed it to my best hacker
"Yes boss, anything else"
"No that's it" I shook my head and sent him out "Let us hope I can get something useful from this" I sigh and lean back into my chair spinning around to look out my big window
~ I was now staring at a file labeled Tessa Winters, Ryder went you call his sister, and I was left alone. I slowly opened the file page and was met with pictures; many were when she was what looked like from her teen years. I started reading and saw she grow up the last of her teen years in an all-girls foster home. Weird because I say she had a living family at the time
I read through more useless stuff and stopped at a photo. It was her freshman year school picture, I quickly scrambled through on desk drawer. I pulled out a photo of me and a girl I had fallen in love within my freshman year of high school. I put the photos next to each other
"What the fuck?" I said, I heard the door open and see Ryder walk in. He took one look at my face and was puzzled
"What's up man?" I turn the photos to him and put them next to each other in front of him as he took a seat. I scrambled more through the pages and stopped
"Tessa Loset" I say
"The girl that disappeared not long after you guys, did it? The girl that broke your heart?" I nod and sit back processing everything "Fuck"
"Winters is a fake last name"
"Why'd she changes it?" I shrug and he grabs the file flipping through it "It says here she was rescued by police with a hundred other kids ranging from eleven to seventeen, from a religious correction facility"
"Her folks were very religious"
"Dude it says that she had a kid at fifteen in the place. It was her daughter, no father given on the birth certificate" he said pulling out a birth certificate for a kid named Hazel Loset
"Does it say how long she was there for?"
"Yes, she had been there for two year. She was about fourteen when she arrived" he read off the paper
"That was the age my girl disappeared. You don't think my Tessa is the one that showed up in town and had been hanging with your sister?"
"Everything here points to her" he looked up at me with a sad look "Only one way to find out"
