Chapter Sixty-Seven
Unexpected

Danny left yesterday evening to go home, which sucked, I cried like a baby while saying good-bye to him at the airport. He insisted he'd be back this summer though, for a longer period of time. I hope he's not lying.

I missed my friend but, my mind was preoccupied with two bundles of joy. I sat on the floor of the living room, a bunch of blankets were situated on the floor with pillows lining the outer edges. I wanted to watch movies but, I didn't feel comfortable having Noah and Olivia in another room, so Scott and I made a big bed out here.

Scott was taking a month off school to spend time with me, whereas I took the rest of the year off. It was nice, getting to spend time with him and our babies. They were already changing so much and it's only been a week.

I smiled down at Olivia as I changed her diaper. She hated getting her diaper changed, she would fuss and cry as I tried to put a new one on. Sometimes I just let her be naked for the sake of her not throwing a fit and it ensured that she didn't get a diaper rash, unlike Noah who's bum was red and chaffed.

I winced as I looked over at him, Scott was changing him. "Don't put the diaper back on, he needs to air out... my poor baby. Scott, do you have the rash cream? You should--" Scott cut me off with a raised brow as he held up the cream, which was already on his finger and ready to be put on.

My cheeks tinted red as I realized what I was doing. I was managing him. "Sorry, its like mom brain, I think... I can't turn it off," I laughed slightly, situating Olivia on a towel so if she had an accident she wouldn't ruin the blankets.

I grabbed the two dirtied diapers and stood from the floor, wincing slightly as I did so. My stitches were still healing and ohmygod they either itched horribly or pulled uncomfortably when I moved the wrong way.

"Are you hungry?" I asked from the kitchen, washing my hands after disposing of the diapers. "I could eat," Scott called back, "what are you thinking?" I bit my lip as I opened the fridge, my hands making the handle wet since I didn't dry them.

I looked through the fridge and sighed, it was empty. I'd have to send Stiles or Dad grocery shopping or something. "Uhm, how does chicken salad sound?" I pulled out the lettuce, leftover grilled chicken, cheese, and dressing. "Sounds good."

I quickly began assembling the salad, humming to myself as I did so. I put it in one larger bowl so we could just eat out of that together rather than making two separate salads. "We need to give them baths later," I reminded while walking back into the living room, salad in hand.

Scott nodded, grabbing a fork as I sat down and set the salad between us. Olivia was sucking on her fingers, looking at the ceiling light, while Noah was kicking his feet like a wild child. I smiled at them, taking a bite of the salad.

"We can do that after we eat, then you can feed them and they'll probably just go down for a nap." I nodded, swallowing before responding, "which means nap time for us too," I yawned tiredly.

The twins didn't have the worst sleep schedule in the world, but it still wasn't the best. They woke up at least twice every night, screaming... well, Olivia would scream and then make Noah cry. Last night, Olivia kept the whole house up with her screaming at 2am. She screamed for an hour straight.

We tried everything, I fed her, changed her, burped her, rocked her, bounced her. My dad tried rocking her, so did Scott. We tried the running shower, taking off her onesie in case it was irritating her, literally everything.

Finally she stopped crying when Stiles came in and rocked her. I was a little pissed about that one but, whatever.

Scott yawned as well, "good, I'm exhausted."

We got both the babies down for a nap and decided to clean up the house before taking our nap. Noah and Olivia would sleep for two hours now that they were down, which was perfect. We picked up the living room, my room, and got laundry going before we finally laid down in bed.

I turned on my side so I was facing Scott, yawning as I did so. His eyes were on me. I rose a brow, "yes?" My eye lids slipped closed for a moment and I sighed in content, pulling the blanket up to my chin.

"Can we stay at my house this week? My dad's going to be in town and--" I cut him off with a smile, "of course we can. We'll head over there tonight after dinner. Now, go to sleep, I'm tired." Scott chuckled under his breath and placed a kiss to my forehead, wrapping his arms around me.

♡♡♡

That night, I sat at the dinner table with my whole family surrounding me. Scott, Stiles, Melissa, my dad, even Rafael. Noah and Olivia were beside us in their bouncers, looking around  whenever they heard a new voice.

I felt so content, surrounded by my people, I felt happy. We were all together. My dad and brother didn't disown me when they found out I was pregnant. My brother didn't hate me when he found out Scott was the father. Melissa wasn't mad with me or Scott when she found out about the babies. Scott didn't ditch me when I told him I was pregnant-- or when he found out it was twins.

They stuck with us through everything, helped us as we tried to figure this whole baby thing out. They supported me and loved me unconditionally. I don't think I'll ever be able to repay them for that. For all they've done for me.

"Tori, are you okay?" Stiles asked, bringing my attention back to the table. I sniffled slightly, wiping my tears from my eyes. I nodded with a smile, "yeah, I'm just happy." Stiles nodded, grabbing my hand and giving it a squeeze before turning back to his food.

As I drifted to sleep that night, I couldn't help but smile. I had more than I ever wanted. Last summer being with Scott seemed like a farfetched, crazy dream. And now I'm lying here, with his arms wrapped around me, while our two beautiful babies sleep in the bassinet beside us. I guess what they say is true; the most unexpected things are the most beautiful.

After all, I didn't expect my life with Scott to be so incredibly beautiful and I didn't know where our relationship would lead us until now. I know now that no matter what, I'll always fight for us. I'll fight for our family, and I won't let anything come between us, not if I can help it.

A/N: It's over!! I can't believe I finished this book. Agh! Was the ending okay? I kinda wanted it to be short, sweet and simple and I think I did just that.

Overall, what're your thoughts on Unexpected? Love it? Hate it? haha, let me know. I'll be jumping into Unravel asap but, I'm gonna first write out a story board so, I know where I'm going with the whole thing. It shouldn't be too long though, so no worries.

I'd like to thank you all, because this story would not be here if it weren't for your guys' encouragement. There were so many times I wanted to give up on this story, but y'all helped me to the finish line and I couldn't be happier! I appreciate each and every one of you for sticking with Unexpected.

Gosh, I can't believe I'm here, at the finish line. I never thought I would finish this book, and it feels so good to say I did it! I wrote my first book start to finish!! I'm giving myself a pat on the back for that one.

Now, since we're here at the end, together, I'd like to do a sign off with my name. I finally am taking ownership of this account and my book without my pen name. Until next time-- XOXO, Jaidynn ♥♥♥
