Chapter 20

I panted at the end. I struggled against the man, Doctor Martin, for about two hours. I also tried to escape, but every time I got through the door, the alpha was there to catch me. It got so bad to the point where the alpha had to stand inside the door.

"Such a feisty little one, aren't you?" Alpha panted. The wildness shone through his eyes, and he smirked at me.

"She should be ready to go in a few days," Martin announced. "She damaged her ribs beyond our healing abilities. It's a wonder how she out-ran a group of speed-trained hunters." I snorted, lying my head gently on the pillows. "Can you shift?" I snarled at him defensively.

"She wouldn't shift for me either," the other man said in worry, scratching the back of his neck.

"Where did you find her?"

"Northern boarders." He approached me carefully as if not to spook me, and I lifted my head to watch him. He gently picked me up. "I'm going to go get her something to eat. I don't want her to have to stay in the hospital. Guest room B is where I'll have her stay."

"Sounds good." He softly placed his hand on my head, massaging deeply into my scalp. "Then I'll come check on you when you're done eating." My tail twitched, wagging in a shallow manner.

"Thanks, Doc."

"Anytime, Alpha." A man opened the door from the outside. The alpha leaned in towards his ear.

"Thank you, too, Max," he whispered quietly. That was the wolf that was chased out of the house earlier...He let go of the door, allowing it to close itself. He moved only his eyes to look at the taller.

"Shouldn't we be keeping it on the down low, Alpha?"

"You know I love to tease you, Babe." My ears perked up in curiosity. "Think of it as mental, emotional, and/or professionalism endurance."

"You're so cruel to me," he whined quietly, wrapping his arms around his alpha's neck.

"Am I really, though?" the taller chuckled. He kissed the shorter's head. "I'll make it up to you."

"How?"

"You'll see," he winked.

Gross, Pyrite gagged.

I thought you died, I scoffed.

If I did, you would be human right now, whether you liked it or not, she mocked. I mentally rolled my eyes at her.

Good point, I said.

"Come here." I came back to reality after the beta showed up and was taking me into his arms. They were warm and comforting. Almost like...

Sylver's...

I missed him so badly. I yearned for him. My body craved his. I needed him next to me. The flying sparks. The heated moments. The faithful kisses. I missed it all. I felt like he was torn out of me by a force-field that despised love.

Joden...

I wondered if he missed me. What an attractive creature he was. He took care of me the two days he was there. He saved my life from the hands of blood-thirsty, sex-driven rogues. He stopped me from over-working myself. He told me and Sylver more about who Sylver really was. I felt like he belonged in my heart with my little hunter.

Dominic...

My faithful warrior. The best, most trusting beta I've ever met in my life. My best friend. I ached, having a feeling deep within the pit of my stomach, wondering if I'd ever get to see him ever again.

Mom...Dad...Emilio...

My family. My twin. The people who gave me life. I want everyone back. They're my reason to breathe.

"B? Got it," I heard the beta confirm. I looked up at him, painfully aware that he shouldn't technically be allowed to touch an alpha so casually. Couldn't they smell my ranking in my scent like usual? I could smell their power radiating around them from a mile away. What's with this? Where really am I? I nudged his chin as he was walking, and he gazed down at me. "What's wrong?" I whimpered slightly. "Where are you?" I nodded, very surprised he knew what I was thinking. "Welcome to Black Raven Pack, Little One."

Black Ra...oh no. I know this territory. I'm so painfully aware of that name. I might never get home now. They won't allow it. He's a ruthless killer to rogues. I had always been fortunate to never cross paths with him until now.

You said somehing similar about Joden, too, ya know, Pyrite piped up. She wasn't wrong, but she was wrong. I never knew Joden was the King's heir. I was going based off of stories about the King himself...well...the former king now apparently. I thought Joden was the old king at first, until he mentioned how his father acted. But this...this is the alpha himself that has been known to harm rogues. And currently, I think I am a rogue to them. Jaz...THE BLOOD TEST!

The doctor took a blood test! I remembered that through all of the pain I felt! They're going to find out who I am! I heard that what he talks with or does with Alphas never leaves the room. No one except his pack knows what goes on inside those closed doors.

I wiggled around, breaking free of the beta's hold on me, and he ended up dropping me. I made a run for it, falling down the stairs as the beta bounded down them, hot on my tail. I mustered enough strength to leap for the door right as it was opened by that Trenton guy again.

"Shut the door!" Beta snarled, but before it could, I was out, running. I smelled the alpha right behind me. I had to get out of here. If they found out who I was...I'm a dead alpha. I tried yet failed to push harder, and black spots began to cloud my vision. No, no, no, no, no. I needed to go faster.

Suddenly, a wolf jumped over me, tackling the alpha to the ground. I skidded to a stop almost immediately, turning to face the beautiful brown wolf with a white chest spot snarling at the alpha who was standing up behind his beta's wolf and Max's.

"Andrew," I whispered breathlessly in awe.
