Chapter 24

"Let's see your pack." Joden looked over to Sylver. "We are mates, right?"

"True, but are you ready for that?" Joden cupped his cheeks in his hands. I smiled, continuing to unpack my bags. I knew I would be safe in their care. Even Pyrite thought so. She appeared on the bed when I was taking some clothes to my dresser. At first, I didn't notice her pop up, but then I heard Joden talk to someone. "Well, hello there, Darling. And what's a beauty like you's name?" I turned around after a ping of jealousy went through my chest. Then, I just laughed when I saw the boys giving Pyrite belly rubs.

"That's Pyrite," I introduced. "She's my inner wolf. She has a tendency to pop up out of nowhere from time to time."

"She's such a good girl. Definitely tamed," Joden spoke, touching her hip where most wolves would snap their jaws in anger. I smiled and rolled my eyes. When I sat on the bed, she left her mates to come curl up on me so I was practically cradling her like a baby. "She knows her master," he chuckled.

"I think I've seen Pyrite before," Sylver announced. "A small glimpse before she disappeared."

"She doesn't like staying out in the open for so long," I explained. I turned to look at them. "I'm surprised even."

"Why's that?" Joden asked.

"She normally never lets anyone touch her stomach. Let alone for so long. Only Dad has been able to touch her stomach. Even Doc has a hard time."

"It's a lady's most protected area. That's where her baby will grow one day. If anything happened to it, she could lose her baby or even not be able to reproduce."

"It makes sense. Especially being a wild beast," Sylver added. "Most wild animal moms are extremely protective of their young when their born, so why not when they're pregnant?"

"You're a little too smart for your own good," I laughed.

"As long as I'm not completely oblivious to what could happen to me while I'm mated to scary monsters, I'll be fine with being smart," he chuckled.

"We defend our own. Not eat them," Joden snickered. "But..." He leaned over to Sylver, their faces a mere few inches apart. "I wouldn't mind making an exception for you."

"Yup, definitely a horn dog," Sylver concluded, standing to his feet. He walked away towards the bathroom, and he vanished, leaving Joden to pout on the floor. I shook my head in disbelief of those two. I kind of felt Max's pain with the two councilmen. Except I had a councilmen and a hunter. Sylver returned a minute later, standing in front of Joden. Joden tossed a smirk up to him, holding his hips and rubbing circles into them tenderly. Now that was a sight to behold.

Pyrite suddenly had the door's full attention. Her ears perked up after she rolled to be on her stomach, lying on my lap. She sniffed before letting out a boisterous half-bark half-howl. She stood up, hopping off the bed while our mates kept a close eye on her. I heard pawing at the door and stood up.

Opening the door, I was greeted by Graphite lunging on me. I yelped as we crash landed, and he licked my face repeatedly, causing me to laugh. My mates were up in protective mode, but Pyrite tackled her twin. That sent them both rolling across the floor.

Emilio came in moments later, looking panicked. He helped me to my feet, checking over me. He, then, glared at Graphite, who tucked his tail and folded his ears sadly.

"What did I tell you about hurting our twin, Graphite?" Emilio growled.

"He didn't mean to, Lio. He was just excited," I defended the whimpering pup as I kneeled down to hug him tightly. "Awe. You're scaring him. Don't be mean."

"Jaz, I know you love Graphite. I love him more. But we can't keep letting him tackle you and bite you all of the time," Emilio said sternly.

"I'd rather a happy pup than a terrified one," I argued. Emilio sighed heavily before looking at the other two males in the room. Pyrite sat down under Sylver, between his legs. She looked up at him.

"Pyrite seems to be getting along well. I rarely ever see her out."

"That's what I said, too," I agreed with my twin. Graphite mimicked his sister with me, eyes up on me, panting a bit. I stroked the fur on his head gently. I was fairly smaller than the boys, so it was easier for me to reach down to him. Graphite easily towered over his sister. Pyrite was bigger than most wolves, being from an alpha bloodline, but she was about average for the size of alpha females.

Graphite turned his attention to Pyrite, lowly growling at the two men next to her. He gradually bared his canines, but his intimidation was destroyed when Joden's eyes shifted yellow. My brother's wolf, instead, rubbed his head against my right thigh. Emilio and I shared a look before eying the oldest.

"He knows who he bows to," Joden said gruffly, returning his normal eye color. I sighed before discreetly looking at my twin. I was worried that this would be too much responsibility for him. I still had to tell him sooner or later. I closed my eyes, feeling guilty all of a sudden. While he got stuck with my title, I would be out traveling the world. Even if my mate was the King of Kings, my brother would still be a king. And what would I tell my parents? They trained me for the day I recieved my title. Tirelessly. Endlessly. Day in and day out. My pack was counting on me.

"Sis, I can feel your terror coursing through your veins. What's wrong?" I opened my eyes, and my twin, my mates, and the wolves were looking at me in worry. Pyrite whimpered a bit, disappearing to comfort me. I didn't want Emilio to see me differently after realizing that I had two mates.

"Emilio...I need to talk to you," I murmured. I would have to tell him sooner or later.

I'm sorry, Bud.
