Betrayal and New Jobs

One of many complaints about Grey's is the idea that there is only one surgeon for each specialty that is good enough to do any surgery. It's not realistic to think if one doctor leaves then the hospital falls apart.

Gen's POV

"Did you get this email?" I ask Mark as I get into bed.

"What email?" I show him my phone. "Oh, that."

"What?" I yell slightly.

"What?"

"The fucking email says Chief Bailey has hired a new interim Cheif of General!"

"You didn't know about Meredith?"

"What the fuck happened to Meredith?" I demand from Mark. He scoots away from me on the bed. "Mark."

"She...You know we were taking a stand against Bailey, and she sent a message back, and that involved suspending Meredith."

"On what grounds?"

"I...I wasn't in the meeting, so..."

"How long have you known?"

"Most of the day."

"How...how did you...Mark!" I hit his shoulder.

"Ow!"

"My person was suspended, and you didn't tell me."

"I thought you would know."

"Well, I don't."

"So..." I pick up my phone and dial Meredith's number.

"Mer."

"Did you see the email?"

"How did I not know you were suspended?"

"I...it was so much going on and...I still don't understand it."

"Did you see who is replacing her?" Maggie yells.

"Who..." I relook at the email and see the name of Meredith's replacement. "Kepner?"

"I know, right!"

"Why would she replace you with a trauma surgeon for chief of general?"

"I know and..."

"Kepner was leading the charge with us in support of Richard!" Mark yells.

"I know!" Maggie yells.

"Why are you two yelling?" Alex comes into the room.

"Is that Alex?" Meredith asks.

"Yes." I answer. I scoot over so that I'm in the middle of the bed with Alex and Mark beside me.

"So I won't be at work for a long time." Meredith says.

"Not forever." I tell her. "Bailey is going to come to her senses."

"She won't." Alex argues.

"What do you know?" I ask him.

"When I spoke to her to get my job back, and I tried discussing Meredith's suspension, she kicked me out of her office." He shares.

"What has happened to Bailey?" Mark asks.

"I don't know." We all say, and we sit there in silence.

"Can I share something crazy with you all?" I ask.

"You're not leaving me, are you?" Meredith asks.

"Never." I answer without hesitation. I look to Mark, and he nods his head. "I was asked by my patient's lawyer to adopt her baby." I share.
